In the mid-1990s, the term emo began to refer to the indie scene that followed the influences of Fugazi, which itself was an offshoot of the first wave of emo.
thanks wikipedia

a lot of bands kind of like fugazi are described as emo soooo

oh and it's worth mentioning that fugazi are approximately 1565x better than any of the bands snipawolf likes

thanks

my bad, I didn't know fugazi was so close to the emo scene, but:
While Fugazi itself is not typically categorized as emo, the band's music is cited as an influence by popular second-wave bands such as
>_> Having listened to a few fugazi albums, i wouldn't call it emo either.

(control+f emo on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fugazi = no results <_< )

Genrefication implicitly insults art and its creators.
it was meant as a half joke half serious post, regarding shit like gangsta rap etc~~.

Russiyan rap in particular sounds ~very~funky

Awesome, rap with a meaning. Gangsta rap is pathetic.

Listen to all of these then say that again, tombom...

Also, blindly following what anyone who wants to write writes isn't such a good idea. It used to say that metallica was thrash metal. Anything on wikipedia that can be subjected to opinions or personal analysis is probably messed up, either a little or a lot. (Not saying that article is wrong, though there is a chance.)

e:listened to a bit of fugazi, was alright until he started singing. Anyways, I certainly wouldn't say its emo music. It has meaning and purpose, but it isn't emo. Also, wikipedia classifies them as post-hardcore on their page.
