In my experience, that tends to equal a resource drain and a pointless waste of metal. Peewees, aks or fleas, they all seem to be defeated by even simple noobish LLT spam.

That's because you need to spam in mass numbers. Not one lab with 1 peewee a minute...
Peewees cost so little you can just rape everyone on little resources.

Yea, if you use the Soviet steamroller tactic with 'em it works, but it just seems so...inelegant, don't it?

This is current Spring community. Elegance is out of the question.

Use rockos, samsons or anything else that out-ranges static defenses. And/or try to get more terrain before LLTs are on it, and just wait, as your economy grows faster then his. What you definitely should not do is send in attacks that fail, as the wrecks will be on his side. And, oh, yeah, if you can drive round, you should try make use of that.

No the first version was correct. Push until you meet the enemy. Then stop pushing, to instead poke, prod or tickle.

Pushing is good, but you can potentially overpush in comparison to your allies, allowing you to get cut off and then raped from behind.
or in a more obvious manner:

@Lollocide: Yeah often a problem encountered in dsd where there is one set of three metal spots that is much closer. You can help it a little by using the edge, but another problem is that the base behind the line and all of the mexes are also reachable. (Sometimes, though the enemy isn't bright enough to make use of it.) also amusing is that people often forget the two ways from the flats upto the hills.

Just been watching some replays and can't believe how weird so many players are about teching. Everyone always seems to think they must build a fusion reactor and 8 nanos before they can start building t2 tanks. Maybe ok if you are in a comfortable position with the time to do so.
But I see players under heavy siege going through this ritual, and wonder if they are thinking 'Oh my God I'm in trouble. I sure hope I can somehow hang on with 3 llts a comm and 4 stumpies for long enough to complete this fusion and nano swarm so I can build some more tanks to fight back with'.
And then if they do survive the next thought seems to be 'well 30 nanos is far more impressive than 4 nanos, so I'll build 30, even though 4 will use up all the metal I can possibly get hold of in the forseeable future'

I'm talking about 2 diffrent sorts of pushing here, expand till you meet the enemy, and then try to break his line of defence,, just keep the enemy under pressure with some lvl 1 arty, and build up some defence, then a guardian and pwn him:)

Something like this should be shown to new players, it's definitely good advice to keep in mind. If you're in this sort of a situation, you've gotta be aware of whose trying to flank you how and when, and how to try and deal with flankers (in the case that you have shit allies)

@Tribulex levelers are underrated. Only works in maps that arent too open, though, otherwise flashes can drive around too much.

...or if you are playing XTA (like i assume trib is referring to) you may find that levellers are in fact t2 flame tanks, and pretty damn apalling vs any mobile unit at all, particularly fast t1 raiders.

Believe everything, assume nothing.
My picture still holds. Flash > leveler.

I was talking about BA. Some very good players switch to stumpies when they get levelers.

You don't make any sense.

Levelers kill themselves when they're in groups and get rushed.
If any unit can get close enough to just ram the leveler, the leveler's splash damage will make it kill itself, also works against Janus but Janus' long reload makes them fairly easy prey.
