my usage is from the start of game on some maps. Its noticeably higher than my normal spring cpu usage
i use an nvidia card 8800 gt 1024mb atm (awaiting my 280 gtx)
the map with the really dense fog and the cities (forgot its name) was the one causing insane slowdown (down to 10-15 fps and 100 + wen off) maps with lightfog dont seem to have noticeable slowdown, neither do feature heavy maps.

The music really hurts my ears - is there a way to turn it off? Maybe also let it check for hitting F6 to disable sound as it keeps playing with that...
Well, it's a Gadget, so it can't be removed entirely, no.
Gonna need to make a command to shut it off, I guess, and put it into the UI. Dunno when I'll have time.
Ok, I have to do stuff now, "lunchtime" is over... cya later people, I'll get dealing with the bugs / balance stuff when I'm home tonight, feel free to keep posting stuff, I'll try to address it all.
I'd like to hear more about
solutions to the balance issues- what do people think needs nerf / buff?
If you've played it enough to have a feel for what units have what role... I'd like to hear more about fixes that address their specific issues... for example, does the Heavy Shell need a boost to health? Does the Soldier Shell need a boost to speed? Does the RocketTank need to send that rocket up a bit more, to get over more obstacles?
Think about how, in a perfect world, each unit would overcome its particular problems... I'm listening, and as the beta testers all know, I'll do my best to get things fixed up, but I really need feedback, since I'm unfortunately rather busy IRL and can't spend a lot of time online...

also another thing
Lobby side icons dont seem to be working (did you make any)
and the fact that teamlist/pings/cpu usage isnt visible is a bit annoying. There should be some way of knowing whos in game even if it isnt the standard spring way of showing it. I know the info clashes with the UI

I only have a spare 200 ram for spring alone, the music kills me too much, you must make it on/off.

Well iirc he's waiting for marmoth to finish his widget for the info stuffs because it's much nicer than the default.
Music hurting ears? That seems odd as it's at a very reasonable volume, however, it seems that there should be a UI element for music volume, but not just an off/on sort of thing (yes that too, but volume as well).
Another oddity I noticed. It doesn't seem like .cheat works. I use it a lot for helping out AI's when they fall behind (giving resources, units, etc etc). Am I off my rocker here?

some engine standardisation cheat commands go like this now
/cheat instead of .cheat
/give instead of .give
/nocost instead of .nocost

Surprising, but sensible. Every other game (not to mention IRC clients and the IRC workalike of the lobby) uses / instead of ., so it's good that Spring has conformed.

News to me as well, and likewise, not surprising. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

OMFG.
P.U.R.E. is no. 1 on ModDB popularity ratings for games right now.
It's like I woke up in some strange fairy-land, where people actually like what the team has done here.
Can ANYBODY find the time to make a gameplay video. ANYBODY. Use "serious" music, no goofy effects. No issues on length, etc., but please... somebody... find the time if you possibly can. It doesn't have to be wonderful, it just has to be done, to keep people interested while I fix everything I can and get RC2 done.
We might have a serious way to promote Spring here, but there is no way in hell I can keep up with this. My RL issues have not gone away, folks. I need some help, right now.
And uh... look, if I delegate, and ask for some help with the code fixes, will anybody be able to help me out tonight? Seriously... let's get 'er done. I'll be happy to release any code that results PD, you will get credited, etc., but let's DO this, we're not likely to get an opportunity like this again.

i could make a fraps video using pures in game music.
But ofc ill try not to show the broken gameplay elements
because it is visually pleasing after all

also on a side note
i find pure has alot of potential as a 2v2 co op rts seeing as overmind/resistance dont share resources really.(id enjoy this mode and can see its potential if it wasnt for the gameplay needing work and balance)
so it could be popular in that sense.
but another thing that worries me is that the popularity is nice but it seems like people who are new to spring wont understand how to get it working properly

Yes, I know that. I'll be addressing some of those issues with Satirik / Koshi / etc.
Gotta go again for awhile, bbl.

Is P.U.R.E open or closed beta?
i just recently built a new comp so i could record some games played with fancy graphics to provide editing material for those who know something about editing~~

It's open beta slek. Search for it on moddb (I don't have the link on me).
Argh, pm me with what you need done. I'm extraordinarily good with grunt work.

I've played a few games today with other people, and I think PURE has huge potential
I'd quickly do something about games being so hard to set-up , it would be too bad to lose the momentum now that you're on the front page of moddb. Is .77 that necessary?

It's absolutely necessary because many of the lua functions do not exist in .76

Meh, I really, really gotta go after this...
Post 0.76 builds are absolutely required. World Builder won't work without the new features... same with a lot of the other major Gadget code. That's why the long, long, long wait for 0.77 was such a big deal- in a sane world, I would never have released this early... unfortunately, I do not live in a sane world.
I've already posted to Satirik et al, about what to do about the immediate issues of getting new players into the game with fewer... problems.
Also... would you and maybe jK be willing to help get RC2's Lua fixed, or at least answer some stupid questions if I post the code up? I hate to beg, I know that you guys have been under the impression I'm a retard, but if I try to address the entire laundry-list without some help, I could be stuck for a month, and that would be bad. Any help at all to get this done on a crash-basis would be good, I'm stuck between the proverbial rock and the hard place with all of this.
Ok... really, really going now, I'll be back in about 3-4 hours.

also the version of spring you included in your installer is full of desyncs
we had to play with a different version that didnt have the desyncing problems to get proper games going
