What, like a fucking warez site? The solution is to get an ad provider who pays for impressions, not clicks.

The solution is to use the many people who are offering mirrors! There is _plenty_ of bandwidth available :D

jj's site is really impressive, when i saw it i felt 'wow, UF was holding just holding us back- when necessity presents itself, even greater innovation flourishes', as indicated by lichos p2p system as well (which was MTR and everyone says 'its never gonna happen', then UF goes down and along comes licho).

The map previews from the files minimap, the suggested game sizes and landmasses, the 'popular' and 'newest' download sections- all really great features from top to bottom.

Just work with the other sites to support them as mirrors, as everyone else has suggested.

This site is great. If only we could have more detail on the maps, like the metal map, the heightmap, value and location of reclaimable features and geospots, which terrain is passable by hovercraft-tanks-kbots-amphibious-(damn you tabula!)-commanders, etc... it would be perfect!
Also an icon indicating the number of starting positions and if they are broken would be great.

movemaps would complicate things as NOT all mods are TA.

but yes, jj did a really good job.

site looks awesome. only problem for me is when you mouse over things and it highlights them they turn yellow but the text stays bright grey. Kinda hard to read; if you're using like one stylesheet or something it'd be awesome if the text changed to a darker grey or something too :P. Otherwise, secksi epic pwnage!

I like how it displays what other users are browsing, but for that to be more useful, could you turn the text into links? So I can easily view the same thing by clicking on it.

Nice.

Another small request, but can you change mb to gb here -> "Bandwidth
3.73% (192540MB left)"? The number is just too big to be easily understood.

This is difficult suggestion, but i think it may make your site EXTREMELY competitive if you made scripts that search other file hosts for files, download those files to your server, and then host them. In this way your host could be the most complete, containing files from all the other hosts.

Hi,

I made a donation one of these days, but the mention of received amount have'nt been updated. Please do it so that people have a real idea of what is still needed.

Thanks.

Marmoth

Btw: donation page (paypal side) is in dutch, which is not very practical for those who can't understand it.

ya know... My server could host it all if the files were simply moved over. JJ would need to administer it though, as I have no interest besides hosting. For that matter a domain name could easily be mapped over to it. Of if people are too lazy, I could give it a simple subdomain.

Reason I say this is that JJ's site seems to be the 3rd coming of FU/UF and it's somewhat disturbing to see that site running out of bandwidth or running low.

Just wanted to say its the best site for spring content,i loved the way u can look for map by their attributes.
Totaly awsome.

Suggestion:would be cool if map rating would be encouraged even more.
There are so many maps out there, starting players dont know what maps are good and what maps are not.
I suggest for every map that the user hasn't ranked on the map's page there will be a big text line asking to rank the map,or,any other way you find fit to encourage ranking and commenting about maps.

Lichos stat system could be used to automatically generate rating figures.
