Just because the original version ahd ti doesnt mean the new one does.

After all if the original was perfect why are you remodelling it?

And even fi the camo arguement holds up the new camo is still a lot fuglier than the style on the old camo.

Infact one could argue that isnt camo at all but rusted stained metal panels of various types.

The distortions on the team colored panel in the front is caused by a deformed quad. Maybe you shouldn't keep that.

Update-2

After laying over the bright camo, and adding in some panel work.

Amazing, definitely submit that to the CA and XTA teams.[Don't give it to BA, 64mb video carders play that, it would make them crash.]

Why would a 64 MB card be unable to load the texture? Think harder, man.

Anyway it's a good improvement, looks nice.

Looks, great. However, I think I'd like to see some sort of texturing on the tread shields. Even if it's just a faux grooving like on the original.

Oh I will be, just saving it for last cause I know its going to be a hard spot to make good.

By the by... is there any particular reason you use concrete as a base texture?

Grey is a good base to start with?

You can color it, fade it, dodge/burn it, pretty much build onto it whatever you want.

Anything with a medium color can be changed easily one way or the other, as long as you got the right tools 8)

Much better than trying to airbrush or pad over the absolute ends of a spectrum IMO.

TBH though, it was not concrete but a Copper panel which was the base, I just greyscaled it, then added in what colors I needed, then just start layering everything over that base texture.

I suck at texturing, so I gotta take whatever shortcuts I can.

No, it's not a critique, you're better than I am :P

I was just wondering, because another modeler I know of uses concrete as the base texture for all his work, and that texture looks so much like concrete. I was just curious if there was some tutorial or something that taught to use concrete as a base texture, or if it was some other abstracted reason.

its the latter, its much easier to deal with neutral colors as the texture base, so a 'concrete' or generic 'metal' textureis usually a good place to start :D

Update 3.

I'm pretty sure that this will be the final draft, although I could go back and add some extra dodge/burn work, or some paint rubs or something, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Now are there any brave souls willing to script this model for the community?

With all of the objects matching right up with the origional Goliath model, it should be easy to start, the only new pieces are the Light turret on top and the wheels.

I'm also wondering about the possibility of doing the animated tracks, via object swaps.

Sombody had posted a long time about using objects dissappearing and re-appearing to simulate the appearance of moving tracks, where each stage track-object would be offset on the texture slightly.
