If sales figures are any indication, if they do this the will be in a position to buy out Google and Microsoft by the end of the year, completely turning all current world domination theories upside down! [/theorycrafting]

While I haven't actually been keeping up on any e3 stuff (I only cared about the THQ press conference which was a few hours ago, that also dashed my hopes by not mentioning anything even remotely Relic related!), I did just see this on the yahoo! news switcher http://www.yahoo.com/s/625737 (specifically the new balance board controller/weight loss game)

I declare game over. Wii has won. Prepare to bow to your new overlords.

Well, as a hardcore gamer the wii kind of alienates me... To me console gaming isn't supposed to be exercise. The PC is strenuous enough leaning over the mouse/keyboard playing mostly competitive online games. The inteface forces you to lean in. Now, playing gamecube/PS2 I take the opposite approach, I lay the hell down as far back as possible on my couch and lazily twitch the controller around with as little movement as possible. I've never used console gaming as a physical experience, and I don't really want to start now. The Wii is fun at parties or with some friends, but it's not a console that I would buy for what I consider traditional console gaming.

Megaman was never meant to go 3D
Which ones? I haven't seen a Megaman in 3D since Legends 1 and 2..

I only own the second one, and I like it quite a lot...

This new Wii stuff isn't aimed at people like us Swift. See, those of us that are already Nintendo fanbois will get it anyway. The new Wii stuff is aimed at people like your mom (no insult intended) who always said you need to get off that game and go get some excercise, and parents too lazy to make their kids exercise but have this guilt that they ought too, and the massive group of people who fall into "slightly overweight america", and all those people who pounce on every latest fitness fad, and everyone who wants to convince themselves that they can gourge on junk food and play video games but still lose weight!

Its going to start dipping into customer bases previously untapped by any console or pc (not even by the sims).

Ya, that's what I'm trying to say... In the other thread I said Nintendo created a "cute fun little must have console", I didn't mean it was literally designed for every current gamer, it seems to be quite the opposite IMO.

The Wii is supposed to change the way the world games, meaning, bring in new gamers who wouldn't be interested in gaming in it's current setup of games and genres. What they have done is created a powerful fad, where suddenly, because Nintendo has told you so, it's cool for everyone to game. It's cool to hold a little remote and pretend you're playing golf or baseball or tennis. It's the way we've always wanted to game, right?

Well, I don't think that's the whole story. While I'm really excited about some of the neat things the Wii will do for certain genre's of games. For instance, golf games are about to get alot more fun then they ever were in the past, and shooters, when built correctly, will have a very cool new way of being approached. But it's not going to suddenly make me love DDR, get my ass out of the couch games when I've always hated them in the past. As a hardcore and habitual gamer I support what Nintendo is doing with the Wii, but I really am not saying I want to migrate from the traditional setup we're used to in past consoles. Especially since right now it would mean giving up graphical power and rendering for the cutesy creative alternative. I'll jump on board as quick as the next gamer for any really great new project that shows off great gameplay even though the graphics aren't insane in quality... but that being said, how can you not watch crisis videos and not say "oh wow, I try that". I can buy it on PC, but my PC won't run it anyways. There just something to be said about a platform where every game I buy I know will run, and so I can just pop the game in, sit WAAAAY back, turn off the brain a little, and do some seriously relaxed fragging, or RPGing, or Racing, or Sim Basing, or any other simple fun little single player experience.

I still think the Wii's ticket to awesome is to make a lightsaber/swordfighting game. It's just so perfect!

And Red Steel doesn't cut it!

There's a few in the works.

No More Heroes: From the makers of Killer7, dude buys a lightsaber on eBay and goes out to kill some hitmen.

Red Steel 2: Hopefully less bugs this time.

Gundam 0079: You can grab a beamsaber or whatever else your mech comes with. I doubt it'll allow you to strap a second Wiimote to your leg for when you play as char, though.

Sony screwing up their PR again  . Apparently the $100 cut is only on the the 60GB models. What is wrong with that you say? Well it just happens that model is now being discontinued. Thus the $600 stays.
