Hmm i could use soem feedback. I am not sure what this unit turned in to :D. I think its a tripod that shoots to the sky and can breakdance. But maybe i fucked up te texture. Or maybe some other comments be welcome really.
Since i spend soem time on it if anyone would want it i might wanna do a little changeover possible. Since i happen to make my first texture here(complete) maybe comments to that shoudnt be to skilled :D
tx in advantage.

the idea is kinda cool but i find the texture a bit messy.
Imo id tried to keep cohesion with the texture (like mr D's stuff) instead of random types of metal :p.
Also id scrap the construction/hazard tape round the missile tubes

The main issue is that you're using block texturing - you're just texturing entire parts with one texture (ie one type of metal, the hazard stripes etc) and just leaving it at that. This does two things: it highlights the fact that the model is made out of pieces and blocks (bad idea) and it completely wrecks the visual cohesion; it's unclear what you're supposed to be looking at and it removes all sense of form, making it unclear what you're looking at. Your best bet would be to find and examine some reference pictures. Of course, as real-life mecha don't exactly exist, you'd have to find concept art or other people's models to have a look at, but also taking references from things like tanks and battleships wouldn't hurt.

experimenting with making wreckage models, and models for another mini-project

Your texturing has improved PL
Also, for IW textures all I dois create a texture overlay made out of rubble and cracks and various things like that, and then use 'multiply' or 'hardlight' over the existing texture. Occasionally I have to block out lights or other things that would need to be reduced, but for the most part it is really quick, takes little effort, and can be handled by people who may not necessarily be confident with texturing. Gnomre did the majority of ours (though he's actually a pretty good texturer, if you look at the ATRT).

I wouldnt call that billiant texturing. Its basically the same as the Under Pressure stuff, except i overlayed (or screened or something) a grainy metallic texture on top of the camo to roughen it up a bit. the warning stripes and the door were from some texture resources i have saved on my pc. It took a lot longer to fix the UV's after i hacked the model apart (until i figured out an easy way of doing it, doesnt stand up to close inspection, but its sweet at typical zoom)
I actually had quite a bit of fun doing this model. The factory itself is under 250 tris, so im fairly happy with it.

Destruction Modells, they kind of never made sence to me.. they always showed that parts had no vital meaning in a structure, in your example, the rolling door doesent break apart in stripes, into the inside of the structure, in addition the static Responsibilitygroup likes to protest against missing carrying elements for the heavy door, and there is a Elevator or insidematerial missing.. remember, the most intersting thing about nearly destroyed buildings is, that they satisfy the whats-going-on-inside voyeur.
Just imagine yourself shooting at the Building, where are the soft spots, were bullets would just punch holes, were are the skelettal elements that would tear down loads more "undamaged" material..

Doesn't really look like an improvement though, the biggest eyecatchers are still the blocky and ugly shapes.

Awww come on kdr, let yourself smirk a lil bit

Yeah, it's a flashtank smoth, I just took the original 3do and stuck it in wings. I actually accidentally found some new techniques with lines while making this thing.

and you forgot to set up the normals as usual

I am of the opinion that baking normals is retarded. Until I have lua in my hands that allow me to apply REAL normal maps, I won't be making any.

Not BAKING normals, setting them up.
The ONLY thing you have to do in wings is just click the right edges, right click>edge hardness>hard, just do it man, it takes a few minutes and makes everything look much better...
