The eweb, from canon, is manned by 3 people generally, and atleast 2. Animating that is a pain in the butt - so we decided to make it a single man hover platform, which still acts in the same way (deploying to fire).

I'd like to shrink the stormtroopers further, but it's difficult because of Spring's damage detection issues. Not much we can do about it, considering the huge issues we had with the droids in our first release...
Perhaps you could make the trees a bit taller then? Btw I'm really lookin forward to this mod!

That would, for the large part, involve releasing our own maps. As far as I'm aware, as the trees are hardcoded into the game, we are unable to specify an alternate tree model to use. I remember reading a thread (I think Argh made it) about dealing with this, but I don't seem to recall it coming to any conclusion.

SWS looked a whole lot better back in the days of MiniSpring (I wonder how many around here remember that...), where everything was halved in size. It effectively doubled the sizes of maps, too! Unforunately, hitbox errors (as well as a host of other issues) put a stop to that.

Just to remind you all we're moving ahead while we deliberate the winner of the competition, here's the Imperial Gunboat by aGorm:

Looks very very clean, but I suppose that's a good way to offset the differences between the Rebels and the Empire. Though IMO it could use some roughness around the edges.

I feel better.. I can texture as good as agorm if I compare my recent ones to this.. >.>

Well, new rules mean we can't spend ages on 1 moddel. I suppose it could use some dirt, but I didn't have the time! Thats the diference between a 30 min and a 5 hour job I guess... lack of time!

Well i like it to. I think it isnt overdone and i believe it will turn out just fine in spring. becouse the rough egdes have sertain stripe texture wisch will help make the egdes little less straigt. Hmm in english i like it alot. But i would like a dark burned place around engine s or missle lansers or weapons. i think simple texture well done can look owsome in spring and i bet this is example. And an example of bad englisch :p

oh and maybe a texture on the windows that maybe look a little as see trough window but i aspect it could not be done anyways.

Let's see it then, snipa.

I think aGorm is one of the best texturers here at the Spring forums, and that is an excellent texture.

Indeed.. But nope, I need to keep what I'm doing undercover.. Unfortunately :D

Well, not quite as good as him, but I recognize every technique he used and have replicated all of 'em recently. If I get a good lookin' UV map made (I hate UV mapping most of anything...) I can possibly do something of a quality as good as that.

I may be able to make something almost completely irrelevant to my mod in a couple of days or something and let you see some of it...

Or, I can force you to wait till my mod is out, muahahahahah...

snipawolf has what i call 'hapless noob modder syndrome'

A condition characterized by, when a newcomer to a game learns to mod, he immediately thinks he can make a good and complete mod in a relatively short time. He will post incessantly about his skills, and try and convince people that his mod is just around the corner, or imply it in some way. Unfortunately, he is only trying to convince himself on both counts. Fundamentally, noone really cares.

I suffered from this syndrome long ago, young one. It is rare but not unheard of. Just STFU and get to work, and you'll be fine. Or your project might take several years. Who knows? It's the internet!

Dragon, I've seen his WIP, and it shows a lot of promise as well as currently existing quality. What you refer to, I generally apply more to people that take AA or BA, and change a few FBI values and call themselves modders.

[StubbornDragon refuses to be wrong]

Well there's a world of difference between "promise" and "finished product". A galaxy of difference, if you will.

Well it looks nice and plays decently...and tbh there is not a single content package for spring now, that can really be considered a "finished product".

I too suffered from that for a while. You learn pretty quick that actions speak much louder then words.

If you want to keep your mod secret until release, then it's best to not mouth off about it, because people don't want to hear it. I think the best way to do things is to either stay quiet and pump out everything and surprise everyone with a fantastic mod (Argh with nanoblobs, Smoth with gundam), or do what SWS and S:44 are doing and keep everyone updated with your progress with in-game screenshots and discussion.

Wow, this is all kinda funny, and all because people think I like to say that "I'm an amazing modder who kicks every one elses ass!!11!"

(Edit: And Dragon, I could count the times I've "gloated and bragged" with one hand. If I like to show something to the community to get critic on it, then I want some opinions, It doesn't mean I am pimping myself...)

Well, I'll say it right now.. I suck as a modder in general. Wanna quote it to make sure I said it, go ahead.

I don't think I can do good in general, and if it takes 30 mins for aGorm to do that (it took me two hours for me to do mine like that) then I think I suck... Hard!

TBH, I do think I suck, considering how long I've been working and what all I have.. 8 units ingame.. Basic understanding of the particle systems, okayish quality textures in a not okayish amount of time... What else do I suck at? I need to ask a question for scripts everytime I am confronted with something new... (That part fucken pisses me off) (Not to mention, we need moar wiki info... I am learning a new damn command every damn day!)

So, you heard it from the horse's mouth, and Peetah, no need to defend me... And Zsinj, I've been knowing that since I textured the gunship, which was my 4th or 5th texture at the time, and it was pretty good for back then.

So, I'll just do the former suggestion, I'll stay shut up, and you won't hear from me or my... Half-decent skills.

Btw, best of luck to this mod, it does really look good.

We weren't trying to get you to say that you sucked, or anything. I highly doubt you suck at texturing, I just don't think you can go around saying that you can texture as well as aGorm without really showing any of your work. Even some of the other really good texturers on this forum (Spike, Smoth) wouldn't really come out and say "I can texture as well as you", they'll just offer criticism.

I don't really wish you any ill-will, you just need to work all that "I-suckiness" of the last post into some general humility into other posts which can go a long way in terms of generating a respectful environment on these forums.
