i thought just of a cheap way to animate lava blobs maybe..each model is 2-5 pieces and they all spin:

like this but more random shapes instead of rings

The lava looks great, although I wonder how it behaves while moving/dynamic. It looks like it oozes out of various holes in the side of the mountain, but I can't be sure.
Questions

: Will the lava harden after a while thus stopping the flow?
What are, or what do sierra mechas look like? (couldn't find any googling.)

Common elements seem to be wide stance, large groin, and boxy torso/limbs. Maybe I should tone one of those down, for more originality and character. I'll think on it; thanks guys
