it looks like one of those so-bad-its-good movies, but i can't bring myself to watch it quite yet because im deathly afraid of being disappointed
downloaded it cause it seemed vaguely interesting, but havent gotten around to watching yet.
fake edit: looked into movie and here is my impression after hopping here and there:
- the pictures are nicely shot, but you can see they didnt have enough money for rly good cgi for the aliens
- not sure about the acting
- seemed fairly slow
- definitely not "so bad its good" category, it is either good to ok or tedious.

its not bad. its NOT about monsters though :)
EDIT: Watching "Spartacus" the series right now. Imagine a multi-episode-"300", thats basically Spartacus. Tons of nudity and gore but I got to say the fights in the arena are very very well made. Its a bit "simple" on the plot side, predictable more or less but apart from that it does its job, it entertains. So check it out if you want to see something that doesn't require you do "think" at all.

I really hope Uwe Boll makes a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. movie.

(carefully phrased to avoid spoilers)
It could've been a great movie, but it seems glacially slow once the big surprise starts... I mean, the movie makes it obvious what's going on, but instead of confronting it directly it seems to dance around the issue and the ramifications for like an hour.

You're still spoiling a bit :D
I agree with your comment though I love the movie. I think it's fine with the atmosphere and should be taken as is. It wouldn't have been so good without that slow "huis clos" style.

def. liked the spartacus series;
not much subtlety, thats for sure
are you guys watching it on TV? at the moment we've got "spartacus : gods of the arena" on, which is a prequel that they made because the actor who played the spartacus character in B&S was diagnosed with lymphoma halfway through and they had to suspend filming temporarily so he could be treated
apart from him though all of the other characters are there, and i would say the fight scene in the first episode of GotA (coincidence much?) was the best in the entire series
kinda missing charlton heston though :D
edit: i'll have to check some of those out torb3n, but im familiar with kung fu hustle and shaolin soccer; the producer/director/actor stephen chow is working on kung fu hustle 2 ATM, i can't wait
aslo this : i mean, really? instead of a lovecraftian epic, we get a tom cruise movie?

Check out "The Sunset Limited"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1510938/
2 men. 1 room. First a professor, atheist. Second a black, working-class, believer.
One.Long.Talk.
Very interesting. Watched it, then watched the last half again, still feel like I've missed a lot of interesting dialog. I think many of you will like it.

does anyone outside of canada get trailer park boys on TV? the movies are crap but the show is hilarious
edit: "the fighter" is defenitely worth a watch. i knew about the boxing from ESPN classic, but the story behind the fighting is pretty damned interesting too. its tough to go wrong with bale and wahlberg these days i guess (and the fighting looked pretty legit, better than any boxing movie i've seen)

The Other Guys
A very fun take on the usual cop-buddy movie, it turns the whole concept upside down. Has scenes that make you go WTF all the time. I heartily recommend it.

78 on rottentomatoes isnt bad imo
(we were like "if it got above 40 on RT, we watch it drunk", imagine our surprise)
but yeah, your mileage may vary.

Very good movie. The title reminded me of two other good ones
Revolutionary Road
and
Arlington Road
