A couple more tasters. Untextured this time, but we can only work so fast.
Again, if you've got abilities with texturing or UVmapping, we want to hear from you!

Thinking about getting rid of the trooperfrom the Atgar and making it an automated turret. What do you guys think?
This is how it was originally, but this has little concession for full 360-degree rotation without very complex animation, which is why I modified it.

I'd keep the trooper, though give him a seat or a bit more platform. At the moment it looks lkie he's hanging on by his arms.
Either way he adds a point of interest to the model.

He is indeed standing on a small platform, if you take a closer look.

Make the platform larger so he can stand on it upright and properly?

by AF
if you were on that platform for 16 hours would you sit or stand?

We wouldn't want his powerful tigh muscles to atropy.
That and its more in line with the original.

Hehehehehe...
I like them turrets. Though, woulden't the platform be a little more level so the guy woulden't be hanging off the handles? Or at least have a chair or something...

Do you really need all those boxes around the storm trooper's waist?
Posted: 21 Apr 2007, 03:26
by Warlord Zsinj
Boxes have actually been removed. They remain in the standard stormtrooper model, but they've been removed on the AA trooper, as well as a few other minor details to save on the poly count, which was quite high.
Quite a few people have been recommending I remove the guy altogether, which would solve problems with his somewhat unlikely pose... (i was vaguely thinking that it would actually be more comfortable then standing, because he is holding himself as a counter weight to the turret, like in
windsurfing.

Windsurfing? bah!
I still like the guy there. Don't bow to SecurE's pressure!

Are you saying the turret would tip over if the guy let go?
Posted: 21 Apr 2007, 18:44
by AF
no but if the thing he was sitting on were removed it might tilt the other way slightly

Ok, so I made a wrong choice of words, you pedants

I'd say leave the guy and add a seat. If you don't want to do that just remove the guy altogether.

the standing guy looks pro. give him a seat but make him stand up and man the turret when the turret is firing imo

...and make him hump the turret when shoots the gun.
