The bertha looks really good in play. You have many talents cremuss!

I wouldn't have said either Cremuss or Mr.D adhere religiously to the TA style, but I much prefer their interpretations and models.

you want bricks on the bertha base O_o

very good work on the models and i like the bertha texture cremus (needs a little bit of work but not much) great potential :]

yeh and id really like to see mobile units :]

dunno why, but maybe it feels more TA than mr.d´s work.
texture is fine for now ! :)
Yeah this guy puts me to shame, :-)

Its all good though, Structures are one thing, but I can't wait till he starts hitting some mobile units.
Hehe.How about a core t1 airplane.liek a bomber or something.
Airplanes are easier to model right?maybe a core bomber or fighter.

Please, make the texture a bit more like the bertha in the intro movie in ta, or like the buildpic.

Lol it's a tip, I can't do it, I'm a sucky texturer.

I don't think that texture is bad but it looks like Core. It must be textured as Energy Storage, imho.
All models (Bertha, Annihilator, Retaliator...) are excellent!

Tss tss :-)

Actually, I don't think I'm gonna do modile units because I want to do structures first. So I have to finish the arm one plus the floatable ones, then the core... pfiou lots of works :) Then because I've lots of insane features in my head, so I want to make a mod with great features using my own models, so it will takes time before I start modible units remodeling. But I'm sure you'll be faster than me and you'r gonna do the all mobile stuff 8)

@ Warlord : I just shadowed a bit the teamcolor and added some dark lines. I think it's a little less "neon" like huhu.

@ Hoi : I'm sorry but I'm not going to tweak the texture anymore. Maybe later, but I want to texture a new model right now.

The annihilator : 1380 tris

http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/annih ... es/uvs.jpg
http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/annih ... ilator.obj

Some tweaking on the teamcolour of the bertha. The texture is finished now.
http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/bigbe ... r/tex5.jpg

@ MDV : Yeah maybe... but I'm actually not enough good to make a texture looking the way I would... So maybe I'm gonna retexture the bertha later, when I'll have enough texture skill ^^

I'm gonna start a new model, and texture the annihilator :)

Nice Cremuss; I think you do need to add a bit more information to the barrel. Think about the material there. Is it really shiny? Then you need more highlights. Are there any muzzleflash holes on the side of the barrel? Is there any soot/charring from firing towards the end of the barrel. It's just a very big part of the model, and at the moment just has a very simple gradient on it.

I was going to bring that up too, the barrel needs something more than just flat grey.

I wasn't going to say anything though because I thought maybe it was still WIP.

A stronger gradient shading on it or some beveling or grit ect... towards the end of the barrel would work just fine.

If it was me, I'd just put a dark cap on the end of the barrel and a little grit down lengthwise and call it good, but its your model so do as you see fit.

This is generally what I'm talking about just to have the barrel look like it fits into the rest of the model out a bit more.

You've got the the rest of the texture looking pretty good, then the barrel is just this plain grey blob :D, needs prettying up a bit.

That wins MR.D. :P But it seems there's nothing in the texture to really distinguish it as "Arm". Is the general trend with OTA remodels deviating away from faction likenesses?

I kinda agree, the texturing here is nice, but it doesn't really feel like an 'arm' unit - it feels cold and evil, sort of like I'd imagine the Core units looking. There needs to be some sort of design approach that clearly differentiates the two sides in aesthetics. Maybe arm uses lighter textures? More colour? More greebles? Maybe arm stuff looks more rusty and beaten up? etc

I'm not even talking feels like, where's the ARM logo? If your intent is to create a "non-ARM" unit, then so be it. But otherwise, this doesn't make sense to me.

Part of the usefulness of redesigns is that they are not TA IP. Putting an ARM or CORE logo on immediately makes them less useful.

show me the logo on the original model.

Heh good one, i also agree with Crayfish, give me new better looking models that are not wrapped up in a nice TA IP pastry thanks.

Hi !

@ Mr.D : Yep, I was concentrating on the main turret and I forgot the barrel. I've trying something like you showed. Tell me if it's okay :-)

@ Warlord Zsinj : Hummm, yep I didn't thought about keeping a specific aspect while I textured the bertha so maybe it's pretty far from it should be. But I'm happy the texture is liked :-) . Now my goal is to do a good texture with the arm design feeling. But I'm gonna redo it, but not now :)

I'm still wondering what I'm gonna do with the logo. Putting one or not. Maybe i'll do 2 texture, one with and the other without.

Soooo, I'll post annihilator textured pics soon.
Here is last bertha texture version with little tweaking on the barrel.

http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/bigbe ... r/tex6.jpg

And new models I've started today.

Adv fusion : 1800 tris atm. Using 10 sided cylinders and many 6 cylinders made the tri count exploded. Even if you'r not gonna see this model many times in-game I can reduce the tricount easily.

http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/adv_f ... eshot1.jpg
http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/adv_f ... eshot2.jpg

Keeper : bottom part is a bit more massive than the original. 1200 tris

http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/keepe ... nshot1.jpg
http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/keepe ... nshot2.jpg

Air repair pad : I've added 2 rotating radars, and a repairing support for the aircraft.

http://cremuss.free.fr/fodb/files/airre ... nshot1.jpg

As usual critics are welcome.

Last thing, I've done the s3o exporting for the bertha. I've used Wine to make upspring running on linux and followed argh's tutorial. Now I've to do the .COB file if I'm right. What software should I use on linux ? Wine + scriptor does not seems to work ^^

I'm gonna sleep :-)
GN !

Those models are, as usual, excellent.

Dare I say that the long light part of the barrel still needs a better material effect >_>

I actually like the smooth-looking barrel...you certainly wouldn't want a reciprocating part of the gun to be rough (or have reactive armour)

Right, because a unit called the Big Bertha that has the same function and look as the original Total Annihilation unit and belongs to a faction called ARM has absolutely no TA filling, crust, or sprinkles whatsoever.

That said, yeah ok, so the original model didn't have a logo either. Ok, fine. :-)
