I just tried CA once more and I found something: You probably have edited the Arm Anaconda (most probably in Upspring) but haven't added a groundplate again and so one of the front faces is missing...
Well for the rest:
I can't really argue about the gameplay so I just want to add that I really think those Core aircrafts look more than just strange...

you know, sak, you could learn how to texture. Considering how much you rant and rave about models, textures etc, you could of spent that time learning wings , PS, etc.
note: this is only a half serious post, its not flame bait...

to prevent an eruption of vitriol i will reveal that Sak does know how to model and texture, and that the points he raises about the textures are valid.

Mai take on the new core stuff:
New core air is strange O_o. very different from old models, and the bladewing has a strange movement script too. I could see all core moving towards the evil spiky look, but that is something that needs to be done as a whole, cause atm the air just sticks out real bad. And rapier needs some rethinking, I'm not sure I can imagine a core it would fit into (unless we break out the necromancer shit and go havoc on teh poor ak's).
I like the new solar.
New mex -> too dark and unmoving (confusable with a wreck). the red moving part is in a place where most players will never see it, which makes it kind of pointless. An Idea: why not have core mexes do vertical movement, kind of like an oil well? I like the fans on this baby, but again, they will probably go unnoticed by most players...
new antiswarm -> again, too dark. Otherwise good, may be a bit overstated for it's purpose though (gun barrels seem a tad too big).
And it's a crime not to adopt the new core nanospray to all units and sides. Is sexxa and lags less. WIN.

I like the original scorcher more..
new one is too conventional and unimaginable, it looks like normal ballistic weapon and not heatray. I think we should use for other unit than scorcher.

I can model and texture (I never got around to finishing that model so yeah, i know it has issues). I know how to use wings and PS. If az let me (He doesnt want anyone else touching his models) id gladly go through and clean them up. I just have a bucket of other responsibilities in regards to CA.
First and foremost i have to actually play the game, because a developer who doesnt play his game just wont make a good game. I have to fix bugs, argue with the other devs over balance changes, canvas for feedback on bugs and balance issues from the players, and then actually implement the stuff- which takes hours of closed testing if i want it to work properly (it routinely breaks something anyway).
Ive made a few models for CA, notably the blastwing, core floating mex, jeffy (quant textured it) as well as butchering mr.d's commander so that you can actually see it well (I didnt do a good job and didnt understand how to do teamcolour back then but at least its visible now). When we get down to re-doing the models properly, expect a lot more modelling from me.

That is because I am not remodeling the units - I am reinventing them. Why should I stick to more then ten year old concepts?
The bladewing movement script isn`t very nice - best thing would be to change the general flight behavior but this would result in changes in gameplay...

Sounds good to me.

This model (as most of the others) was done for another purpose - there are many other units it can be used for.

I am on skiing holidays for 10 days by now - after that I'll do something about the team colors. I rather do this myself - not that I don`t trust anyone`s skills - It is just not my artwork no more if someone is cleaning it up or altering it somehow.

I don't like the new Core designs either. They are not bad models, but I personally don't see how they fit the Core design very well, especially when you haven't replaced EVERY model.

I drew this up just to get an overview of the Core planes. Seeing as how you left the hurricane, Vamp, Valk, and Vulture as is, I stemmed off the Fink, Avenger, and the Heavy Transport of the main features I noticed around each one.

I'll replace at least EVERY Core aircraft step by step...

Well that's a bad argument...
Should George Lucas have taken out all the X-Wings and Star Destroyers from his Special Edition revisions of the Star Wars movies just because the concepts were like 20 years old? No - of course not because they are good...
Ok - some of Cavedog's designs aren't such classics but still: As the unit style seems to stay somewhat consistent to the original Core one the new air units are somewhat off the scale. I just have popping up an image of that gunship preversion with the robot smile whenever I see the unit and also in general I think it's all a bit too "cartoony" (e.g. those "spikes" on the Blastwing or the strongly exaggerated "wings" of the rapier). Another problem is that the insectoid type might be too similar. I don't know the plans for the new shadow but I couldn't distinguish between Fink and Avenger on higher distance as they have pretty much an identical body with the Fink flapping up the wings when landing and the Avenger being a bit bigger and having those gunslots (you only see when zooming in very close). If the shadow now shares the same concept the confusion will just take over...
But anyway - now just go and enjoy your skiing holidays...

I really like the new stardust though. Both model and texturing are nice on this and it has good teamcolor areas.
Could be a bit larger but thats a minor change i suppose..
