and if anyone thinks that its just a "click a few buttons and its done" job taking those models out of BZ, i challenge you to get the russian 'Czar' mbt out of BZ and into spring.

You can churn out a UP model in about two hours? Bleedin' christ...
My timescales:
Model: 1/2 hours (varies on size and complexity)
UVMap: 'bout 15 minutes
Texture: 7/8 hours (depending on complexity and how often my computer decides to die on me)
Script: 20 minutes / 1 hour (varies massively on complexity)
Unit FBI: 5-10 minutes
Weapons: 5 minutes
CEGs: 10 minutes
Testing: 2 hours (spread out amongst the other activites from script to CEGs)
Total Time: 14 hours 40 minutes / 10 hours 50 minutes (worst / best)

I could've put three to 4 units ingame today, but I was too tired
I made the model and texture for them all, but I was so bored, and lazy, maybe I can still do one or two?

Wrong, that is not fine.
These models and skins are not yours to release.
If you want a position of 'moral authority' to tell you what to do - I've been working on a Cavedog-content free game for about five months now.
PL, you
can do whatever you want with your copies of TA and Battlezone, including reverse engineer them/hack them into tiny bits/make all the tanks in BZ bright pink - as long as it stays entirely on your computer. That's not the issue. The issue would be with releasing them anywhere.
Like peet said - just because it takes a load of work to rip and implement doesn't make it right to release this stuff.
I don't want to sound like I'm flaming you for all of this, but you can't go around releasing commercial content here - you'd just be making the already-high risk status of Spring even worse, from a legal view.

as far as I am aware its fine to release to other battlezone owners.
The issues arise when people who do not own battlezone can freely download it too.

I have found a foolproof method of making sure no-one will ever download any work of mine that they shouldn't.

Um, dude, you're over-reacting here. No need to rage-quit, k?
We're just saying that while you can make this for a private mod, you cannot release it otherwise. We had somebody do this crap with Red Alert models, months ago, and we also stomped on that, for the same reasons- ripping off a game's models directly is the best possible way to get your project shut down. You can, of course, just go ahead and risk it and release, but don't be too surprised if eventually you get a C&D from the original game company, or worse yet, get sued for copyright infringement. With Battlezone II, given that the possibility of a III is, er, not likely... I'd have to say that you're probably not in very dangerous territory, tbh- it's not quite the same level of lethal certainty that the Red Alert rip was, where we were rightly concerned about the possibility of immanent legal action, due to the relative age of the game. But you're still taking a risk, and pretending otherwise is silly.

That's his favourite way to make any critics shut up. He just says "OMG you all hate me I leave" and hopes people are too afraid of being blamed for makign a member leave.
Also it's a serious misconception to believe that owning the original makes it right to download stuff that's taken from it.
1. It does not matter whether you own the original or not, you are not allowed to download it. Any claims like "delete it within 24 hours and you're clean" are bullshit. There are no such exceptions.
2. You are not allowed to put it up for download without permission from the copyright holder. Copyright is primarily about distribution and you are not permitted to distribute. Putting it up for download, even if noone downloads it or everyone owns the original is copyright infringement. It would be legal to create a patcher that generates the mod from a copy of the original content provided your country does not acknowledge EULAs or the EULA doesn't have a "no modifying" clause since then you wouldn't be distributing copyrighted material, only your original changes (which are your copyright).
This isn't specific to the BZ mod.

Isn't battlezone II abandon ware anyways? I find it only a slight bit hypocritical than anyone supporting spring comes down that hard on copyrights for some other obscure title in gaming...
Yup, technically speaking if you develop something else using content that is copyrite to someone else you have no recourse if they ask you to stop. If you have made any profit off it chances are they can even sue you for the entire worth of your profits. That being said, if you know the risks and still choose to act you can't possibly be any worse off than the spring project is anyways.
