I do, on most games i only play AI and Missions, not a lot of online, many people are the same.

Argh have you tried NTai? That issue you had with NTai when you last posted wasn't an NTai issue it was a special case bug in the network code which has since been fixed that caused spring to enter a recursive loop doing the simulation frame over and over again. I'd go get NTai from the svn buildbot quickly before AI compatibility is broken.

@KDR: A lot of people prefer playing with AIs. Including me! It's a lot easier and less annoying than hanging about the Lobby, for one thing...

@AF: If NTAI can be expected to run with 0.76b1, I'll test it now... good to hear it's working correctly again, I was a bit worried that it wasn't ever going to be able to complete a game...

People who can't devote the time to being competitive in 'net matches often get some friends together and botbash- online or LAN- and those same people also play solo vs AI.

Frexample: none of my friends will play Vs me in an RTS. I'm too good. But I am not competitive in a 'net Vs game and cannot devote the time to improving (two kids, disabled wife, commute to work). So, for this reason, if a mod does AI I can get about 6-10 people to play it. If not, then nobody at all. As a matter of fact, of all the people I know who game, none are competitive in online RTS.

EDIT: sorry, I'm derailing the thread here. Carry on!

I am backing the ai perspective, lan parties are great places to have bot bashes, the ai is often stupid and your friends would get hammered by you because you know how to play and they do not.

I don't know if it's because of the sdz/sd7 filetype association thing, but Firefox now opens the download link as text instead of giving an open/save prompt. Which is fine if you right click -> save as, but not fine if you want to give the direct download link to someone over the lobby.

It's the filetype association. Not much I can do about that, I'm afraid. I'm not ready to put the mod on UF yet.

@Clericvash: I'll send you a PM, with the samples I need.

@kiki: Good questions. Luckily, it's very easy to solve those problems.

@Keithus: Well, it's a style, finally. Can't say I'm too upset with how it's starting to come together.
