The fact that I have a small army of cloned you's (which are enslaved to my will, so don't get any funny ideas) means that I can easily have one of them finish it.

We are slowly, but surely, reaching 'End Game'.
So everyone get ready for more thrills, chills, spills, kills, and other neat things.
Jason looked at Lizzy. She lay in the morgue, a cloth covering her chest, where artificial flesh covered up the hole torn in it by the bullet. His mind drifted back to the autopsy report. It would have taken a single operation. A single, simple operation to bring her safeguards, she would still be alive. It was a simple little component, one that was missing in early Transcendi, that prevented too much electrical power from being routed through the brain. Because the bullet had severed a wire connection, the body had shunted the excess power through the only open slot, the frontal lobe, and all that was left...was. Jason closed his eyes.
When he opened them Eve was standing next to him. She placed her hand on the glass separating them from the morgue and closed her eyes. She breathed in slowly, her breath even. ├óÔé¼┼ôI can feel her├óÔé¼┬Ø she said softly. Jason looked at his daughter. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôThrough the glass├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said softly, ├óÔé¼┼ôMother...her mind is still ticking along slightly, running on backup batteries. Its too faint to hear...unless its quiet├óÔé¼┬Ø. Jason looked around the morgue. There was no one else there, not even doctors or nurses. Eve brought her hand away from the glass, her eyes snapping open. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat is it?├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't know├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, frowning. Then she darkened even more ├óÔé¼┼ôWhen's the burial?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked. ├óÔé¼┼ôTwo days├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, turning back to the morgue.
Keller looked over the reports. Both ships, on a technical level, were doing fine. The maintenance of the Prometheus was being helped along by a fresh batch of 'marines' that were recruited from the population pool of sixty thousand...well, sixty one thousand at latest count. People were bouncing back, as people did, and food was getting to be a problem. Well not the food itself, but rather the nutrient content of the food. People weren't getting everything they needed, and calcium, vitamin C and other nutrient deficiencies were starting to show up in large tracts of the population.
The engines, though, was the one thing about the two ships that wasn't giving Keller problems. The freighters Star Drive was fully operational, and the ram fields of both ships had been 'bubbled' together to cover an area of space around them, allowing shuttles to pass between the ships. They continued to accelerate. But the enemy fleet was starting to get closer. Keller could only detect a slight radiation bounce back from their engines, but it was enough for him to tell that they weren't even trying to be stealthy. They were barreling down on the two ships, and they were gaining. Slowly, but surely. In two years, maybe three, Keller would have to deal with their proximity.
But first he needed a course. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhere to go...where to go├óÔé¼┬Ø he murmured, looking at his navigation console. The litany of destroyed colonies the Admiral had sent cut his places to go down to nothing. Then his eyes strayed to the Quarantine Zone. Darkside. The first colony of mankind, long thought a myth. Eve, Lizzy and Jason, the Montoya family had blown that idea out of the water. So, it was a slightly giddy feeling, he plotted the course change to Darkside. He looked at the finished course and did the calculations on the computer. Two years, three at the most.
Then his sensors officer coughed politely. ├óÔé¼┼ôSir, we're getting a signal├óÔé¼┬Ø the sensor officer said, rubbing at his tired eyes. ├óÔé¼┼ôYes?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked. Then what the Sensor officer said sunk into his head and he blinked away the fatigue that had built up over the last month. ├óÔé¼┼ôPut it on the main screen├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, gesturing to the navigational console. His sensor officer nodded and thumbed some buttons on his console. A woman appeared on the screen. She wore marine fatigues, had golden brown hair, brown eyes and looked as tired as Keller did.
Then a memory in Keller's head clicked. ├óÔé¼┼ôValeriya?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked. The woman blinked. Then she brightened considerably ├óÔé¼┼ôTed?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller nodded, feeling as if the universe had gotten a bit brighter. ├óÔé¼┼ôWe spotted the radiation coming from you're fleet's engines├óÔé¼┬Ø Vale said, grinning, ├óÔé¼┼ôBut I never thought you would be commanding it├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Keller laughed loudly, ├óÔé¼┼ôHow the hell did you survive?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôBy the skin of my teeth├óÔé¼┬Ø Vale said, leaning back on her chair, ├óÔé¼┼ôWrangled an old carrier and two broadsides around my old Indomitable, and just headed straight for SOL when we got the message. We spotted you're fleet move out of the place and decided to bounce you a tac-con message├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller's head was reeling. So this was how Miller felt when he had seen the Hannibal heading towards them. Then what she had said sunk in ├óÔé¼┼ôDid...did you say you have four ships!├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Vale nodded, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou've got five├óÔé¼┬Ø she said. Keller blinked, wondering what she was talking about. Then he realized what she was saying. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, face grave ├óÔé¼┼ôCan you meet up with us as soon as possible├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôWe'll be with you're stragglers in two months, but we can hit you in three if we accelerate harder├óÔé¼┬Ø Vale said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhy?├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôGo around them, come to us├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, panic rising in him. He dashed the panic as fast as he could, knowing that he had at least three months to think this through. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat? Why├óÔé¼┬Ø Vale asked.
├óÔé¼┼ôThey are a bunch of brain cores├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said. Vale glowered ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm a brain core├óÔé¼┬Ø She said, ├óÔé¼┼ôDidn't stop you thirty years ago├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller shook his head, ├óÔé¼┼ôThey opened fire on us├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Vale was stopped dead. She shook her head ├óÔé¼┼ôNo├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThats impossible├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôIt happened├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, remembering what Miller had told him, ├óÔé¼┼ôThey said...let me remember... 'it's a Darwinist universe'├óÔé¼┬Ø. Vale closed her eyes, shunting out the rest of the world. Keller knew what she was doing. She was putting her brain in over drive to work everything she had just heard, not wanting to waist any time. After five seconds she opened her eyes and said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe'll meet you in three months, give or take a few weeks├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôGood├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, feeling as if a ton of weight had been lifted from his shoulders, ├óÔé¼┼ôCan you send us a catalog of what you have onboard. We have some problems with supply├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Vale nodded, ├óÔé¼┼ôCan do├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôAlso...are you still banging you're general and thinking no one else knows about it?├óÔé¼┬Ø
Sarris looked at herself in the mirror. She was starting to show a bit. She gulped, wondering what she would say to Keller. Three months ago she had been told she was pregnant by Capitan Joseph Forest, the captain of the Bio-War cooperation ship Agamemnon. He had been lying, she had found later. But...well. She blushed slightly, remembering how Keller and she had thrown themselves together after they had been reunited after the blood bath Michelle had caused. She smiled, remembering some of their more...unique outings.
Then she remembered the first time she had morning sickness. She had started taking drugs to compensate. It worked, and she had kept it from Keller. Exactly why she was never sure. She just...She knew why. It was in the pit of her stomach, a little voice that said that...he would want to keep the baby. She could have an operation, without him knowing, but then they had made contact with the Prometheus and everything had gone to hell. Taking time off to have an abortion would be down right criminal, when the seven civilian doctors and single marine doctor were being worked to death to keep up with sixty thousand people crammed into the cargo hold.
So...Keller walked into the room. He didn't waist much time, walking up to Sarris and kissing her deeply. Sarris was unbalanced, not ready for the sudden embrace, and fell against the mirror. She was lost in the kiss for the moment, her eyes closed and they embraced. Then Keller broke away. Sarris breathed and said ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat was that for├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôI have incredible news├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, grinning, ├óÔé¼┼ôThere are four Colonial Ships heading for us! There going to arrive in three months! They have food, guns, and two of them have full complements of marines!├óÔé¼┬Ø
Sarris yelped, grinning like a school girl. Then her mind drifted to what was growing in her body. She could see the appeal of having a child...but she...she just. Keller was talking. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôIf we can just hold on a bit more, then...then we might have a chance to survive to the end of the year├óÔé¼┬Ø. Sarris nodded, opening her mouth to say what she needed to say. For a moment she wavered. Then she looked at herself. She was a marine, for gods sake. Wavering over something like this was for some flighty head teenager. She squared her shoulders and said ├óÔé¼┼ôKeller...I have some news too├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôWhat?├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller asked, but he was interrupted by his intercom bleeping. ├óÔé¼┼ôMiller to speak with you, sir├óÔé¼┬Ø the orderly on the other end said. Keller stepped away from Sarris, frowning, and turned on his intercom. Miller was there ├óÔé¼┼ôSir├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôOur police force is falling apart here!├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôStart...Start at the beginning!├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said.
Miller breathed in, trying to calm himself, ├óÔé¼┼ôMoral took a huge hit when Lizzy was shot├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThen two officers were shot by some criminals...and the bullets...they came from a ZX-74├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller's eyes widened. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou have a hole in you're outfit├óÔé¼┬Ø Miller said, his voice dull, ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd the police force is refusing to work until they get better equipment├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Jason sat in his bed, remembering.
Lizzy sighed contentedly, stretching slowly to her full height. Jason grinned as she did so, feeling her move at his side. He rolled onto his side and said ├óÔé¼┼ôSo...what should we name the kid?├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Lizzy looked down at her stomach, a hand moving over it, tracing the tattoo's that covered it. ├óÔé¼┼ôDaniel├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, looking up at Jason. Jason's smile faltered slightly. Daniel had been Lizzy's second husband. They had lived together for nine years, peacefully. Jason nodded, ├óÔé¼┼ôThats a good name├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. Lizzy kissed him, pulling him down on top of her.
Jason looked at his hand. She had been holding his hand. Then the man had stepped around the corner and. Jason clenched his hand into a fist. They had killed his wife. They had killed his son. He stood up, pulling on his jacket. He strapped a holster to his hip and slipped his rocket pistol into it. He ran his fingers along the side, looking at his feet. There was a pain, right in his chest. It was a longing, a yearning to just...touch Lizzy one more time. To hear her voice, to hear her laughter... Jason stopped himself. He couldn't think about that, not now.
Andrew leaned against the wall of his house. The gasps and moans from inside reached their highest volume. Then he heard a strangled yelp. Then a minute later a man walked out, somewhat dazedly. ├óÔé¼┼ôThat was...amazing├óÔé¼┬Ø he gasped, clutching his chest. Andrew smiled and held out his hand. ├óÔé¼┼ôOh├óÔé¼┬Ø the man said, dropping several chits into Andrew's hand. Andrew counted them ├óÔé¼┼ôNow├óÔé¼┬Ø he said ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going to ask for double this├óÔé¼┬Ø. The man, who was grinning like an idiot, nodded and handed him more chits. ├óÔé¼┼ôNow go home to you're wife├óÔé¼┬Ø Andrew said. The man laughed and walked down the hall, slightly off balance.
Andrew looked at his house. The Heart of Gold, some people called it. And now Troy had sent him a new bitch and his business had been amazing, just amazing. People would pay double, even triple to book her, and Andrew was just raking it in. Troy took half it, but he still had enough to get triple rations for his wife. Triple! Andrew knew, in a vague half-defined sense, that two people would go hungry when he paid for his extra rations. But Andrew...just didn't think about that. The bitch walked to the door, leaning on it in a seductive manner. She placed her hand on her hip, and somehow managed to look regal dressed in little more then a toga with a shackle around her foot.
A man walked down the hallway to the Heart of Gold. He wore a long coat and sunglasses, and looked rich. He wasn't half starved, that much was sure. Andrew grinned, knowing a good mark when he saw one. The man walked to the Heart of Gold and said ├óÔé¼┼ôHow much for the woman?├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôHow much do you have?├óÔé¼┬Ø Andrew asked. Then a gun was in his face. It had an abnormally large barrel, big enough to completely cover Andrew's nose. ├óÔé¼┼ôOr you can have one for free├óÔé¼┬Ø Andrew said. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou don't quite understand├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI want the woman...whole├óÔé¼┬Ø. Andrew blanched ├óÔé¼┼ôBut I-├óÔé¼┬Ø he started. Then the gun pressed closer and he nodded ├óÔé¼┼ôOkay fine├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Jason dragged the whore down the hallway, a gun pressed in her back. ├óÔé¼┼ôI don't know what you want with me!├óÔé¼┬Ø the woman said, not shouting as Jason had said that if she had shouted too loud she would be blown in half. Jason threw her down an alleyway, where no one was around to disturb them. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat are you doing!├óÔé¼┬Ø the woman said. Jason jammed his gun into her stomach. ├óÔé¼┼ôCut the crap, bitch├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd turn back to you're natural form├óÔé¼┬Ø. Michelle blanched, then her face reformed and she stood, frowning. ├óÔé¼┼ôHow did you-├óÔé¼┬Ø she started.
Jason pulled out a scanner and waved in her face. ├óÔé¼┼ôHEPE emissions. What do you think I am, stupid!├óÔé¼┬Ø he slipped the scanner into his back pocket. ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd don't try anything├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI've told them to come in with some matter Neutralization guns if I die├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle looked at him. His face was perfectly impassive, and his mind was unreadable to her. She couldn't tell wether he was lying of if he was telling the truth. So she didn't do anything. ├óÔé¼┼ôNow├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI know you want to kill Eve. I've lost Lizzy, and I refuse to lose Eve. What can I do to make sure that you people just leave...us...alone├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle sighed, hearing the pain in his voice. She pitied him, for a moment. Then she shook her head ├óÔé¼┼ôThere is nothing you can do├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe gave Eve a chance, but instead of becoming human...she stayed one of us. Now she will either die, join us...or become a Stage Four├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat is a Stage Four├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle looked down at the gun in her belly, and closed her eyes. ├óÔé¼┼ôA stage four├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôA Stage Four...how to explain it in human terms├óÔé¼┬Ø. She thought for a moment. ├óÔé¼┼ôImagine that everything is connected. This creates a net, a massive massive net. Stage Three's can hijack bits of the net and manipulate it. A Stage four...they would not just manipulate the net. They would BE the net, and every single thing that is part of the net would be part of them. There is nothing they can't do, and nothing they won't do├óÔé¼┬Ø
Jason gulped ├óÔé¼┼ôWhats a part of this net? People?├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôPart of the net are people├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôBut when I said everything, I mean everything. Rocks, tree's, Stage Three's, people, aliens, planets, suns...particles├óÔé¼┬Ø. Jason shook his head, not quite sure what she was getting at. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat do you mean by...being the net?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked.
Michelle rolled her eyes, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat if every single person, every single thing, was suddenly one person, one thing. Free will would vanish, free thought would vanish and every race would go extinct as one. I mean...how could a race exist when it is nothing more then part of a whole├óÔé¼┬Ø. Jason felt a chili go down his spine as he began to get a glimmer of what Michelle was getting at. Michelle looked away ├óÔé¼┼ôNow├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôare you going to kill me?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Jason began to think. If she was right, and Eve would...
├óÔé¼┼ôYes├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. ├óÔé¼┼ôI didn't kill Lizzy├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said softly, ├óÔé¼┼ôThat was a completely human matter├óÔé¼┬Ø. Jason's hand wavered as he placed the gun to her head. Then he stopped. Michelle smiled faintly, knowing he wouldn't go through with it. Jason pulled the gun away from her and said ├óÔé¼┼ôLeave us alone├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôAnd I swear that Eve and I...we'll go away somewhere and live in peace├óÔé¼┬Ø. Michelle sighed, looking at him ├óÔé¼┼ôWe can't take the risk. Eve gets more powerful from conflict├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôBut if we-├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, but Michelle cut him off.
├óÔé¼┼ôEventually Eve is going to have to fight, no matter where you go. Then she will gain in power, and we will be back in the same boat├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said ├óÔé¼┼ôIts a no win situation...a bummer, really├óÔé¼┬Ø. Jason closed his eyes, head drooping. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou know├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, her voice changing, becoming lower and more husky. Jason felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He felt a hand under his chin bring his head up. Lizzy's face smiled back at him. ├óÔé¼┼ôI can be anyone you want me to be├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said. Jason froze.
Michelle leaned forward and her lips brushed his. Jason's body reacted, kissing her back. Michelle's hands worked along his front, undoing the zipper to his jacket. Her hands dropped to his pants and Jason pressed her against the wall, not thinking. Michelle grinned, her legs spreading as Jason's left hand felt her buttocks
Then Jason pulled the trigger. Michelle exploded in half, Jason's eyes closed as the body did so. The upper torso crawled away, then blinked out of existence. The legs flashed into smoke, the S-02 that made them up vanishing. Jason drew a shuddering, gasping sigh. He had been close. Very close. He slipped his gun into his holster. He turned to the end of the hallway, his front bleeding from a few scratches from the explosive projectile he had fired into Michelle. He had to warn Eve.

Mutant Fight!
Michelle hauled herself up on her arms, gasping in pain. She had warped above one of the skylights and once again admired how humans could waste their times on something like this. Who would waist time to build huge lights that did nothing more then shine down on their homes. Sure it made plants grow, but that could be done with smaller, cheaper lamps. Michelle felt a twinge in her lower body, where two stumps were starting to grow. She looked down at them and breathed in, slowly. Then her body shuddered, energy flowing into her as it adapted.
Then Taraka was next to her. Michelle looked up at her master. Taraka frowned mightily. Michelle smiled weakly, feeling a faint flutter in the pit of her stomach. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat were you thinking?├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôWhat were you thinking!├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle quailed under his gaze. He knew. ├óÔé¼┼ôI├óÔé¼┬Ø she started. Taraka shook his head, kneeling next to her ├óÔé¼┼ôHow could you...you debase yourself like that?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Michelle felt one of her legs form up to the kneecap. She would be able to walk in a few minuets.
├óÔé¼┼ôI├óÔé¼┬Ø she said again, not having anything to say other then that. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou were trying to create a new hybrid├óÔé¼┬Ø Taraka said, catching a slight wiff of her thoughts, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou wanted to make a new hybrid and train it like some kind of animal├óÔé¼┬Ø.
He looked away. ├óÔé¼┼ôOne Eve is bad enough!├óÔé¼┬Ø he said. Michelle levitated, feeling Taraka's mind grab her and lift her into the air. He looked back at her and said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI am going to give you one more chance. Find Eve and kill her├óÔé¼┬Ø.
He turned half way around and said the one thing Michelle had been dreading. ├óÔé¼┼ôI am very disappointed in you...slave├óÔé¼┬Ø. Michelle looked at her regrowing legs and said, her voice thick, ├óÔé¼┼ôForgive me, master├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Taraka was gone. Michelle hung her head, feeling intense shame flash through her. She felt her left foot form completely, and pulled the leg up, stretching the new muscles.
Eve felt a ripple, as if the air was suddenly denser. But it wasn't an actual change in the air, rather...a feeling of it. She sat up, one of her hands leaning on Hicks' chest. He groaned and she shifted her weight. They hadn't had sex. Eve didn't think she could have sex, not...now. But Hicks had held her, long into the night. Eve laid back down, feeling Hicks' arm reached around and hold her tighter. Then the door bell rang. ├óÔé¼┼ôEve├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason's voice came through, ├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle's on the ship├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Eve rolled out of bed, her clothes levitating to her. She couldn't waste any time. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhats going on?├óÔé¼┬Ø Hicks asked blearily. ├óÔé¼┼ôGo back to bed dear├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, slipping her pants on. Then she slipped out of the door and started to run along side Jason. They both ran down the ship's sides, going to the captains quarters. ├óÔé¼┼ôI found her working a brothel├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said as they reached the Captains quarters. ├óÔé¼┼ôYou what?├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôThats insane├óÔé¼┬Ø
Then the door opened and a very tired looking Keller stared at the two of them. He was holding cup of sludge. Eve sniffed it. Oh, it was supposed to be coffee. ├óÔé¼┼ôMy coffee generator is broken├óÔé¼┬Ø Keller said, dully. ├óÔé¼┼ôSir├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason said, ├óÔé¼┼ôMichelle's here├óÔé¼┬Ø. Keller dropped the cup, but Eve caught it with her mind.
The marines hit the Prometheus guns ready. Miller ran to them, tucking his shirt in. ├óÔé¼┼ôI got you're message, who is this...Michelle person?├óÔé¼┬Ø he asked. The entire marine platoon that had arrived was setting up fortifications with worrying slowness. Half of them were new, recruited from the civilians. They wore the cast of uniforms, salvaged from dead troopers, and looked completely blown away that they had been yanked from training and placed into a duty they barely understood. ├óÔé¼┼ôAll right stop the slacking and get to packing!├óÔé¼┬Ø Capitan Glickson shouted. The newbies started to work a bit faster. Mike, freshly healed, helped as hard as he could. It helped taking his mind off what happened to Lizzy.
Helena tapped her sniper scope and looked at the fortifications around her. Sarris and Cain were helping to organize the overall defense's of both ships, but the marines could handle a bunker easily enough. People were being slowly filtered down to this side of the ship, but faint rumors of panic were starting to spread. The sixty thousand people on the ship had inertia, so the news would probably percolate to everyone well after Michelle was dealt with. If she was dealt with. Then Helena thought she spotted something. She brought her rifle up and looked at the skylights.
Then she stood up and shouted, ├óÔé¼┼ôI've spotted her!├óÔé¼┬Ø. ├óÔé¼┼ôWhere?├óÔé¼┬Ø Someone shouted. Helena pointed ├óÔé¼┼ôUp there├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Michelle looked at the marine emplacements and smiled. Bunch up. It would make them that much easier to kill. Then she saw Eve in the crowd, looking straight at her. Michelle smiled and thought ├óÔé¼┼ôHow's the husband?├óÔé¼┬Ø
Eve grinned, savagely, ├óÔé¼┼ôBetter then you can imagine├óÔé¼┬Ø she murmured. Then she cricked her neck, looking at Jason. ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm going after her├óÔé¼┬Ø she said. ├óÔé¼┼ôHow?├óÔé¼┬Ø Jason asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôShe's way u-├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve yanked her zipper down and slipped her shirt off. Jason blanched, looking at her. She still wore a...lacy bra? Where had she gotten lingerie on a military star ship was a mystery to him. Then Eve crouched down, head bowed as if in deep thought.
Jason took a half step back, feeling his hackles raise. The marines, who were not used to a beautiful woman tearing her shirt off in public, stared as well. Then there were two slams and Eve was flung into the air. Jason saw two hand prints smashed into the deck plating, then she was up, up up up above them. She reached the apex of her flight and started to fall. There was the sound of a leathery snap. Then Eve darted forward, zipping over the fortifications, her wings open wide, gliding over the city. Jason gaped. Wings. She had grown wings.
Michelle took a half step back as Eve flew straight at her. Then Eve slammed into her, sending Michelle flying off the sun lamp. Two forearm blades were slammed into Michelle's stomach and she blinked away the pain. Then she kicked and Eve was sent off her, swooping away. Michelle was falling, falling. She hit the deck, the ground caving under her. Men and women screamed as she landed, seeing her hit the ground. Michelle leaped to her feet and watched as Eve circled. Michelle giggled, seeing the wings. ├óÔé¼┼ôI never thought of that├óÔé¼┬Ø she murmured, focusing on her body.
Eve dived, heading for Michelle again. Then Michelle was gone, flying up in the air. Then wings folded off her body, flapping madly. Eve changed her direction, but Michelle was too high. She flipped around onto her back a second before a...spike shot past her. Michelle grinned, a sliver of her arm reforming into another spike to be fired. ├óÔé¼┼ôI can learn new things too├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, flicking her wrist. The spike flew at Eve, spinning in the air. Eve caught it, but it sheered through her hand. She caught the upper bit of the hand with her other and slapped it back onto her wrist, where it reattached.
Michelle and she hovered, slowly circling around. Michelle's wings were black, not standing out well against the dull gray 'sky' of the huge Cargo Hold. Eve's wings were white, standing out quite well. The marines watched, staring through their binoculars. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, grinning, ├óÔé¼┼ôGetting tired?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôYou can't win, you know├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôWe're of equal strength, us two├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Eve dived forward, her mind snapping at Michelle. Michelle deftly spun the blow away with her own mind, but the physical attack was harder. She brought her arms together, forearm blades snapping out to block Eve's blow. Sparks flew, and Michelle dived back, her wings fluttering as they fell, both of them too busy attacking to flap. Michelle was unprepared by Eve's vehemence, so Eve managed to break through her defenses. Michelle felt a hand grab around her throat, tightening. Michelle couldn't breath.
Her eyes bugged as Eve's mind tore at her body, forcing it to not adapt to this situational change. Michelle was still alive, and would be fine for a long time. But it was uncomfortable. Then she hit the deck, her wings tearing. Eve crouched above her, her wings snapped back and behind her body. Michelle gritted her teeth and smashed into the side of Eve's head with her wing. Eve was thrown fromm her body, but she landed on her hands and knees. Michelle snapped her wings into her back, getting them out of the way. She flicked her wrist and a spike shot through Eve's stomach, pinning her to the wall.
Eve jerked off the spike, grunting. Michelle's other hand snapped out and a gun leaped into it from a wrist holster. It was a MNG, created by Taraka a while ago. She brought the gun to bear on Eve and fired. But Eve was in a different place, diving to the side, as a sphere a meter and a half by a meter and a half wide got turned into plasma. The wind and heat sent Eve flying even farther, slamming her into a wall. Michelle brought the pistol to bear on her again, but Eve kicked off the floor, sending herself flipping up and over the sphere of annihilation. She landed with her back to Michelle, but her arm came around and sent the gun flying. Michelle brought her forearm blade around, slashing for Eve's head. Eve felt the blade nick her forehead even as she jerked back.
The two women stood, panting slowly. Michelle took a slow step to the side. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôHow did you like being you're true self for once in you're life?├óÔé¼┬Ø. Michelle grinned lopsidedly, ├óÔé¼┼ôI presume you're calling me a whore├óÔé¼┬Ø she said.
├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI always though...concubine was a slightly more dignified term, but yet. Whore├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôAll an ends to a means├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôfirstly Troy was very happy with the increase in revenue...and the other favors I did him├óÔé¼┬Ø.
Eve faltered slightly, ├óÔé¼┼ôTroy?├óÔé¼┬Ø she asked, ├óÔé¼┼ôWho is Troy?├óÔé¼┬Ø
├óÔé¼┼ôHe ordered the assassin to kill you're mother├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said. Eve stopped dead.
Then she heard the footsteps. Her head snapped to the side. Then she saw men running down the halls, each with a ZX-74. But they weren't marines. ├óÔé¼┼ôSo├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThis is how he paid me back├óÔé¼┬Ø.
The men filed into the place, guns at the ready. Eve felt Michelle's powers clamp down on her's. It was enough to prevent her from killing the men where they stood, or. They raised their guns, ready to fire. ├óÔé¼┼ôNow├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôMeet Troy├óÔé¼┬Ø she walked to one of the men, a rather dumpy looking man who was standing very far back as compared to the others.
Troy grinned, until Eve's eyes locked with him. Then he felt like running. ├óÔé¼┼ôNow├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, leaning on his side and running a finger down the side of his face ├óÔé¼┼ôEve has no defense's, for the time being. Kill her├óÔé¼┬Ø. Troy nodded to the others and they opened fire.
Eve stood, bullets blasting through her. She couldn't stop them, but she shook with the impacts, holes being torn through her body in a thousand places. Her arm was blown off, falling to the ground. Eve took a bullet through a knee cap and collapsed to one leg. The men stopped firing, their guns clicking. Eve took a moment to wonder at how they had done this much damage. She saw that more then two thirds of the bullets had hit around her, even without her powers. Troy took a step forward and pulled out his pistol. ├óÔé¼┼ôShoot her in the head├óÔé¼┬Ø Michelle said, ├óÔé¼┼ôHer...brain, I suppose you would call it, is there├óÔé¼┬Ø.
├óÔé¼┼ôWell whoptiy fucking do├óÔé¼┬Ø Troy said. Eve thought that was the worst last line to hear ever. Then Troy pulled the trigger.
Eve fell backwards. Troy grinned, turning around to Michelle. ├óÔé¼┼ôWell├óÔé¼┬Ø he said, ├óÔé¼┼ôI got her!├óÔé¼┬Ø. But Michelle wasn't happy at all. She took a half step forward. ├óÔé¼┼ôNo!├óÔé¼┬Ø she moaned. Eve sat up again, grinning. ├óÔé¼┼ôGuns├óÔé¼┬Ø She said, ├óÔé¼┼ôThey're useless!├óÔé¼┬Ø. Troy turned around, gaping. Eve stood up, her body shivering as power ran through it. ├óÔé¼┼ôOrdinary guns, that is├óÔé¼┬Ø Eve said, snapping her forearm blades out. Michelle vanished into thin air, knowing when to not stick around. Troy reached for a new magazine, trying to reload. His troops did likewise. Then Eve attacked.
A few minuets later and they were all dead. None had fired a single shot, not after Eve was in full stride. She looked at the mutilated corpses. Then Troy moaned loudly, reaching around with his remaining arm. Maybe not all dead. ├óÔé¼┼ôW...What are you!├óÔé¼┬Ø he gasped, feeling the stump, his eyes shining and glassy with pain.
Eve walked to him, slowly. ├óÔé¼┼ôI'm vengeance├óÔé¼┬Ø she said, ├óÔé¼┼ôYou killed...my mother├óÔé¼┬Ø. Troy blinked. Then Eve's forearm blade slashed out and his remaining hand plastered itself to his face. Troy screamed, feeling where his eyes had been. It was all a bloody mess now, nothing but mangled wreck. He gasped, then screamed again. His arm fell to the floor.
Then he felt a tong drag itself over his face, in a grotesque mockery of tenderness. Then Troy felt a blade bite into his left leg. He screamed, more blood pumping onto the ground. Then he blacked out. Eve smiled, feeling a savage heat spread through her. Revenge was sweet. She stood up, feeling Troy die, and turned around. She felt...amazing. It was as if everything had been stuck in molasses before, but was now completely free. Everything moved easier, more sprightly. Then Eve doubled over, pain shooting through her. A silvery light flashed. Then Eve fell to the side. Before she hit the ground she was gone, vanishing as if she had never been.
