its good to have realism sometimes, rocketjumping is fun but you can get bored of it

just tried warsow and plays very nice

other games

battle for wesnoth (something between famicom wars and medieval fantasy)

advanced strategic command (battle isle clone, a pity most active comunity is german only)

rtcw: enemy territory (wolfenstein turn into open source and multiplayer, has some nice mods)

rtcw:et true combat elite (one the previous game's mods, turn the game into spec ops vs terrorists, very realism based)

TEG (risk clone)

Hmm free orion is interesting, I've been following that project for some years and it was looking like MoO1 last time.

Populous: The Beginning isn't freeware.

yes it is.

ALACN bought the rights to populous 3, and now provides it for free.

Maybe state a few sources for this story? It is after all pretty hard to believe, since it's not mentioned on the Wikipedia, Liberated Games, the Populous wiki and one of the larger sites dedicated to the game I found still alive.

Download Populous
populous3.exe
mirror 1
filesize - 86.1mb
freeware
Click the damn link.

I did, a random site alone is not a very reliable source. Hell, if I had the time, I could go create a site that says that Supreme Commander is freeware right now.

Populous revolution

ALACN also has his personal site, his own populous patches and his own populous multiplayer system.

Cortex Command - weird 2d shooter, its on the early stage of development, but still worth checking.

Ah, so now you're telling me to believe a single person as opposed to a single website that's probably made by that person? Your sources keep getting better and better!
Content we have here: Free Populous Full game download or version, including the beginning the third coming. You can play populous online even if you don't have the populous vault

We now have Age of Chaos iso Warez, abandonware and more. Undiscovered worlds. We have the non shareware game (non demo) you can also update it with the patch or crack.
He has isos warez, cracks and abandonware. That guy sure must know what stuff is free and what is not!

I dunno, now that I investigate the links closer...I'm inclined to agree with Zell.

Age fo Chaos isnt illegal warez. Age of Chaos is a populous mod thats notoriously hard to beat.

The patch/crack mentioned is the Collective Populous Patch (1.03) and the numerous other patches such as the registry fixer or the displacements patch.

other than that I'm just repeating what I'm told by numerous members of the populous community.

And it was populous Reincarnated not revolution, I got mixed up.

He still offers the original game on the site for which it isn't known wether it's free or not.

I know that, those were just random words he has there to get search engines to notice the page, most likely, I'm just saying you really should reconsider trusting someone who advertises his sites with words like "warez" about what is free and what is not.

Which is also a no cd crack.

Populous Reincarnated doesn't claim anywhere that Populous: The Beginning is freeware though (because it isn't), so i don't see that as a reliable source for your case :P

Especially seeing as the last relevant post I can find about it on the forums is someone who has a rank of "webmaster" saying it's not endorsed by them and that it is illegal to download Populous: The Beginning
