Very good work, I can't wait to see more of this caliber in the future.

Those mountains, are a new standard, they have some damn good realisim to them, without looking retarted, or all impassable and stuff all over the map..

hunter, dude, it is all cool, calm down, everything is ok.

yes everything is okay - just letting everyone know that the map is fair game for everyone to modify and do whatever they want with it.
it's redundant for me to say that, since i've not copyrighted the map at all, but if you understand the side of my argument you'll realize that me giving this permission away is still relevant.

That game last night was pretty good, the metal is much more evenly distributed than SSB and the large middle area allows for better action.
Community reaction has also been very good, which is critical. The map already has a good amount of downloads and I usually see a game being played everytime I get on.
If you haven't yet, DL this map and try it!

Just played a couple of matches on this map and it rocks. It's both atheistically and tactically pleasing to play, and the response from all players I have encountered has been very positive. I see this map taking the place of Small Supreme as it has many of the merits of Supreme, but has been expanded upon greatly with better distribution of metal, vastly superior textures, and a larger three way land bridge for increase action and flexibility. Tangerine ftw!!

Okay, if you make a new version of a map, you gotta rename it such that you can't have two people playing with the same version. Please. Otherwise you spend tonnes of time trying to figure out why people keep desyncing.

Yes this causing a LOT of headaches atm. I think you should just release a new version with a new name to clear things up.

i thought the archive being named something different was sufficient, but it turns out that file's name is irrelevant!
i hate the problems that multiple versions of maps bring, i wish i would've learned about the solid archive bit sooner. it's always a pain in the ass to have more than one version of a map floating around, and fixing this problem with yet another version is even more of a pain in the ass, since the current version works perfectly and ~ 600 people have gone through the trouble of downloading it.
88 people have downloaded the old solid archive version, tangerine.sd7. i've been weeding them out one by one. once again, if you are one of these people, delete tangerine.sd7, and go
download tangerine-fixed.sd7
before you start a game, while in the battle room, make sure to ask everybody if they have the new version. it's easy, tell them to read the description under the minimap. the correct version says
Description: 16 x 16. Tangerine by hunterw. Now with 100% less crashing in loading screens!
whereas the old version just says
Description: 16 x 16. Tangerine by hunterw.
eventually all 88 people will get the new version. i'd say that i alone have gotten 15-20 people to delete their old version. it's pretty frequently played, so i'd estimate there are probably about 40 people left with the old one. lets weed them all out!!

Wait, I thought the lobby client was supposed to checksum the maps to prevent this. If you have a version different from the host it's not supposed to let you click ready.

I think the stones are worth too much metals, i made the same error on the small supcom map.

Yeah, he's probably right. The problem with leaving a lot of high metal stones around is it encourages people to rush build some air construction units and steal all the metal they can, resulting in people getting lots of AA or fighters to protect their metal. It also means if someone pulls it off successfully they can afford T2 plants way earlier than they would otherwise thanks to the free 1000+ metal.

Well i've seen people with T2 at 5 mins on tangerine. Coz the stones are close together and worth a lot of metal, you can eat up around 4-5k of stones before someone will do anything about your air con.
Still, very aesthetically nice map, although it would be good if there was a reason to fight for the middle (i.e. high ground or metal) to get an advantage. Currently a lot of players would rather just porc at their side of the middle instead of fight it out with the other player to push through.

Ijust played a game in here, so off to the personal complaints.
Too much rocks, like usuall in the last trend of maps. I really don't like all that "rush the rocks with your con aircrafts" and gain a huge advantage.
Apart from that, it is a very interesting map in design, pretty enough and the indication of metal in the map texture is among the very best i've seen.

all these rock complaints leave me a bit confused.
here are some rock totals!
tangerine:
north half of map: 4,075 metal
south half of map: 4,075 metal
middle of map: 1,125 metal
total: 9,275 metal in rocks
small supreme battlefield:
north half of map: 5,500 metal
north island: 1,000 metal
south half of map: 5,750 metal
south island: 1,000 metal
middle of map: 0 metal
total: 13,250 metal in rocks
i still agree that there's a bit too many rocks in tangerine - if i do another map it will have less reclaimable metal. on the other hand, it does have only 70% of the amount of rocks on the benchmark SSB, and it has more concentrated in the middle of the map to boot.
DemO citing 4,000-5,000 metal reclaimed would mean an entire side of the map has been entirely cleansed of rocks - i believe he is exaggerating quite a bit.

Yeah thats the biggest mistake of SSB IMO
sorry guys

Rocks should be a nice boost to the players who use them, not a shortcut to lvl2.
