When one unit runs into another that other unit gets told to move out of the way. If the first unit's weapon range forced it to remain that close to the enemy to shoot it would constantly close in while the other is backing away. Might work for fast melee vs. slow ranged units or something but melee vs. melee will just be a wild chase.

That project has been dead for over a year, and you post this like it hasn't been sitting on FU forever...

What on earth do u use to do that, isnt there just an rgb code? i.e
215
147
255

No, why would anybody use colorkey transparency when we can use proper alpha? Color key is sufficient for 8-bit but with RGB it could appear somewhere in a painted texture when it wasn't intended. Just add an alpha channel to your second texture and leave it blank where you want that.

what texture editor are you using, i cant find anything that supports alpha or has some form of straight forward way of doing so. please provide url.

Only ones I've used are Photoshop and GIMP.

Fixed it, it was a registry error, silly me.
Any way v0.03 is underway :)

I know this topic is ancient but...
If you ever read this shadowlord, I'm willing to help.
I've been modding on TAK ever since it came out, so would be handy if we got together.
Probably need someone who knows stuff about spring.
And to go with that you need someone handy with TA files lol.
TAK files were more advanced than TA so its gay I have to learn stuff I never had to before

Maybe be handy if someone could create a new user interface for it too (lol)
Here's hoping eh?

You'll have to simulate a whole bunch of features with Lua since Spring doesn't support most of the things TAK added to the TA engine.

As I recall, most of the new feautres were thus:
play-sound (supported in Spring)
Death anims (ditto)
Melee (semi ditto? Dunno how the TA:kers did it)
Fancy build anims (possible to emulate? - nanoframe + CEGs?)
Mobile units building mobile units (also possible)

add transparent textures to the list too!

And those commander weapons things. Forgot about those...

Plus lots of units have more than 1 attack.
Lots have personal mana supplies to use those attacks too...
Isn't there anyway of using some of the files from tak to make certain stuff possible. Like TAK cob animations?
Since TAK cob files are slightly different (more advanced) lots of their features dont seem to work in spring lol.
And would be lovely if someone could give me advice on perhaps getting TAK's (better imo) fbi files to work.

This is where I need the help.
I dont know nearly enough about Spring, could someone offer a bit of help?
We could do 1 unit at a time if need be
And I also dont mind if the game is slightly off from the original as long as the basics are there.

Hmm, I believe this is wholly possible using lua-cob, just that you need somebody knowledgeable in the field to tutor you or join you.
