Can we take your mod apart to see how it works, though?
Probaly yes since no one will ever know it  .

Copy pasting stuff to learn the way spring works is one thing but releasing it as your work is very disrespectful.

Atleast i would modify whatever mod i want, give credit to everything in the "new" mod that has not been done by me, and not give a crap about whiners.
just because there's one or two mods that use OTA content doesn't mean you are allowed to rip off other mods...

Logically, you can dismantle the ones based off OTA and make use of the bits of them that ARE from OTA. Anything else is still copyright to the origional mod maker.

indeed that why if u want to take apart a mod to learn how spring works GET NANOBLOBS!!! Argh has said it a trillion times that new modders should use his mod as a reference. And all he asks in return is that u give him credit somewhere in your project.

Ok, manored, i am working on TLL. The process i folowed was, i searched who created it, it was a guy named M3G. I contacted him and he responded he thought it was a good idea. Now, i am working on TLL.

Many (most?) people will be annoyed if they see they're work beeing modified in ways they do not want. Others won't. You already got permission for messing with NanoBlobs, and indications that other mods like EE would not be kindly seen beeing modifyed, for example.

EE is 1 texture away from being 100% completely OTA content free. THerefore, all the work is credited to the author, Fang. It is all his. DO NOT TOUCH! EE is not some run of the mill ota ripoff mod so unless oyu get express permission from fang, keep your paws to yourself!

Also, I would like to note. Gundam is 100% original content (as is EE besides the 1 camo texture that we are working on a replacement for), and unless you contact Smoth, DO NOT TOUCH!

The above is non-negotiable, except by Fang or Smoth.

You can however use that one texture.

That solitary texture is your last shred of E&E.

In the meantime, try some GPL ones.

To the contrary, you can use everything but that one texture! That one texture is copyrighted by Atari, and using it would be a violation of several american and international laws. If Atari ever get wind you used their texture, of which they are the legal owner with their buying of Humongous, you're in deep deep trouble. But on the other hand, Fanger most probably won't have the ressouces to pay all the lawyers he'd need to jail you for using his work, so you don't risk anything. ;)

No really, how we seriously talk about copyright on something that was founded by illegal modification of copyrighted properties?

Also, I'm intruitigued, are all E&E units really based on models specifically modelled for E&E? Because I recall hearing they were just old TA third party units retextured and with a couple vertices edited in 3do builder. And indeed the shape of some E&E models really have a feeling of d├â┬®j├â┬á-vu. Also, what about E&E sounds? If you found a way to create a hundred copyright free humming, buzzing, exploding, zapping, shooting, etc... sounds, I'd like to know how, as creating sounds from scratch is something I really wonder how of to do.

Fang remodeled _every_ single unit. Can't say anything about the sound effects, only that I've seen some people (FA) working on them.

EE currently uses no models not designed and modeled by myself from scratch in wings 3d. Currently I have replaced all the textures used by the URC race, and are replacing the textures used by the GD race, once that is accomplished I will be using all my own textures for those 2 races, textures made from scratch by myself in corell photopaint. The sounds are borrowed with permission from several sources but are to my knowledge free to use sounds. The cursors were created by Forboding angel from scratch and replace all the current cursors except the wait command which was made by the spring dev team and is not copyright anyway. Once the textures are finished being replaced EE will be free of any ota content and free of any (to my knowledge) copyrighted content. Because most of this work was done by Myself, and took me a great deal of time and effort to produce, I would be quite irritated if someone were to use content from my mod without permission/consultation. If you would like to tinker with it on your own Fine, but do not release anything unless you specifically ask me before hand. I may not have the resources to sue you for violating this, but I do have friends within the spring community who would be equally upset with such a violation and could move to have said person permantently removed from the spring community and any content they have put up removed from available download. I dont feel like threatening anyone and personally Id prefer to be amicable about this whole thing, SO please ask me first before hand, I think that should be commen curtesy.

For those of you who might suggest that I used 3rd party models beforehand without permission, that is wrong, where I could attain permission I did, and I modified all the content till it was no longer in its orginial form.

(this whole post was prolly way off topic)

Most (if not all) the sounds are from the freesound project. I edited, etc etc, them, sent them to fang, he edited some more, then I tweaked a few here and there afterwards.

zwzsg appearently hasn't seen the latest beta's of EE.

@zwzsg, it is radically different from .163

Does it haves superweapons like nukes, storm generators (wouldnt it be cool :-) ) or big (somehow bigger than the big EE robots) super robots? Its one thing I think EE was lacking.

Superweapons are in.

Okay, since you're all STUBBORN, how about this.

I'll take XTA, unpack it, mod it to a tiny degree, release it as "XTA SPYKE!" and then you can mod that, okay manored? And the only modifying I will actually do will be to edit the modinfo.tdf file to change the name to "XTA SPYKE!". You will then have my permission to mod my work.

Problem solved!
