Thast the biggist sux... I love Nvida and AMD, but now AMD own ATI, what the hell am I to do?
The twin dule cores out out this month BTW.
And R600 is the sux to be honest. They never did anything revolutionery with there cards, Nvida always had the cool advancments. There card AFTER R600 may be a differnt storie though as AMD will have a big effect on that chip (the R600 was all worked out beofr the deal so its hardly an AMD thing atall.)

ATI is just mass production of cheap cards with cuit corners, such as lack of proper OpenGL support, and bad linux drivers, and general bad support.
Nvidia is good quality though despite generally higher costs, I find them much more reliable and longer lasting than the ATI cards I've dealt with, and generally not as buggy and borked.

Would you think it's wise to spend money on a pseudo quad and DX10 card just now?
I really don't want to wait with upgrading until the true quads are out, that'd be like in 9 to 10 months... on the other hand the DX10 cards are pretty expensive right now as well as the twin duos I guess. Any ideas? I mean buying some expensive stuff right now which is redundant in not even a year just doesn't seem like a good idea to me... especially now when they're making such huge leaps, I mean the 8800 is almost twice as fast than the 7950GTX or ATI's crapcards.

Right now video cards are getting released every 9 months or so
now. The cards are getting faster, but they are also more $$$ too.
They are also need more and more power to run them ... Mostly
to keep them cool or they will melt
I just rebuilt my main system with a 600 PSU to support my a SLi
setup. I'm running 2 BFG 7600 cards, new AMD64 X2 CPU, MB,
drives and alot of extra fans ..TOO ..
I plan on waiting till June or July before I get any new hardware.
If anything, I plan on going to Vista in Jan. 30, 2007 .. I'm
also, thinking about upgrading to Office 2007 too ... but it's
alittle too $$$ I think ..
Right now I'm going to start saving my money and collecting
cans from the side of the roads to pay for my next upgrade ...

For those of you dissing ATI for not being innovative, keep in mind they were the first to bring out a DirectX9 and the only card makers to have decent DirectX9 performance for around a year. Their OpenGL and Linux drivers do suck ass, though.
As for the "R600 will pwn NVIDIA" talk, the R500 ran waaaaay late, so we have no idea when it will be out or what NVIDIA has lined up to compete with it.
