Zoombie wrote:Where do you get these versions? I have one of UFD but it's really buggy and I really want to try TFTD, as I remember it beeing really really friggen creepy, with all the underwater sound effects and things.
Crysalids are freaken scary beyond all possible imagining.
Think I got the community patches from
there.
You'll need an account to read.
I don't know if the Windows versions are public domain now, the DOS ones are (they weren't removed from abandonia.com). Anyway PM me if you're interested...
UFO Defense/UFO:EU got like 5 MB, TFTD 40 MB (thanks to the intro). Also my windows TFTD version got the original content IIRC, the normal windows one got most sound effects replaced by crap. Some of the aliens moan like porn actors... so yeah, it's all cool and without TFTD's bugs.

Oh yeah! Add lemmings to my list. That was an awesome game. But I sucked at it, and got stuck on the level where I have to climb up the big pillar and then back down.

Oh, consoles are allowed?
In that case; Bushido Blade
Best. Fight. Game.
Ever...
Pong
Combat
Snoopy vs the Red Baron
Also I forgot, As for PC; MinerVGA. Based off of an old text character game that I manually programmed into my VIC-20 out of a magazine. Yeah Baby!
MinerVGA is still worth the download today if you have never seen it.

I haven't played that one in forever..
Bushido Blade was a great game.. I like the guy with the pole..
I owned my bro in like 3 seconds everytime, I had some seriously badass 30 hit combos or so..

Uh, you'd pick the character, then you would pick the weapon. But whatever. Yeah, that game is the most strategic fight game I have seen.
Nothing beat whacking a guy's leg so all he can do is limp. Then moving to the outside and finishing him off with a metal fan throw to the head...
I still play that goofy game on the PS2 against a couple friends. I wish someone would remake it, not like Bushido Blade 2 though. It sucked compared to the original.

Interstate '76 was cool. I mean really cool.
The cars with cockpits in which you could actually look around, the landscapes that didn't suddenly end at a "glass wall"..
It also features the best quote ever also I still don't know what it means:
"A wheel is for ever. A car is infinity times... four."
Here is some video with cutscenes from the intro and missions:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Ou4UISq5NWQ
Interstate '82 was nice too, at first it feld wrong but then it was the same good fun. good sequel.
Half Life. When I first played, I thought it was an RPG until you get the first weapons. The tentacle thing in the missle silo was creepy
Driver
I still play this, there is no similiar game that I know of (Don't say GTA, although I liked those too)
Zone 66
Top down fly-
around (not just a scrolling screen)-and-shoot-and-bomb-everything. There were bases to land and refill and stuff...
And then there was this REALLY GREAT Dos-bomberman I forgott the name of :/
It had a scrolling playfield and I think you had to find every <something> then the gate would happen.
There was an enemy that looked like a batch of bananas with a headband that could walk through walls. We called him "Der Bananenweddler." He was cool..

OH!!
Yeah, I forgot about Zone 66! That was good fun. It reminded me of Raid on Bungling Bay, by Broderbund. I always thought it would be cool if they have figured out how to network Zone 66.
Also I don't know how I forgot but, Scorched Earth was an excellent original game that a party of friends could play into the wee hours of the night.

I meant the guy who had the black robes and was about the middle of the selection on the top row.. I keep forgetting.. I like the pole with him most, though..
My favorite weapon

Halflife, fallout, warcraft2, earthbound, breath of fire, zone 66, solar winds, RE2, HOMM2, MAX, and SMB3 is my list. There would be a few more that could be on, but those are the major players.
