getting opinions is kinda the risk when you go public...

Sometimes those opinions can be usefull, esspecially the ones you don't like. Think about that, just for a second :-)

This post has offended a baboon and three DVD players!

See, Useful opinions are useful, your right.. this however was about as useless as you can get without being utterly retarded..
meh

they still look quite all the same.
Lets see from that comment you could Mean, that all the models look to similiar to eachother, or that they all look to similiar to the orginial models (this one would offend me even more).. However I dont know how you can say that given that you have not ever actually seen all the units...

Most units look like eachother. This also makes all buildpics to look like eachother. Which gets me into reading the descriptions all the time. Instead of microing.

i recall that someone ( i think in fact noize) made this complaint before, in a different thread, and at the time fang said that was because he wanted that aesthetic, where there was a slight, but not substantial difference in the factions models, thereby giving a much more cohesive style than TA based mods. I for one like them.

Oh yeah, also the game this mod is based on had units which shared the same chassis, but had variable armaments depending on research, so similar models are kinda to be expected, if the models are 2 versions of the same vehicle with different armament.

a small 'R' in the bottom right hand corner for 'this one has rockets' would be a good idea IMO though.

Tell that forb 8)

There is a way to reduce the amount of units and make them different: combine them. That's what I did in E2150.

My bigger mechs for instance had large plasma guns and something else, or rocket launcher/mortar and a small plasma gun. Well rockets and mortars used ammo and plasmas don't that was the idea behind that.

What I'm on about is combining some of them but leaving the option for specialized units as well. Which means leave in the option to build (heavy) plasma or flamer mechs or (heavy) laser or ion tanks but split the other minor weapons up and give the unit some role name, i.e. defense, scouting, base assault, support, etc.

So for LVL2+ units electronic warefare could go together with SAM/AAA, cannons/shotguns and rockets, SAM/AAA and rockets. lasers and cannons, plasma and flamers, etcetera...

Just an idea.

If Spring supported that, then it could be possible..

 OSRTS might support that, just make a module.. Sweet..

I don't see what all the whoplaw about the units looking the same is about. They look different enough to me and I'm half blind.

I think that myself and fang, as well as probably a few others would damn near sell our souls to be able to get researching.

I'd really like some kind of magical device that would mod for me, so I can put cool ideas in and a workable mod comes out, but other then that I agree with everything Fang just said...expect the soul dealing. I could get a good deal on Snipa's soul...maybe I could become a piano master with that Soul, and I personally think thats a good deal...

I really really like that idea, giving average run of the mill t2 units multiple weapons to encourage more tactics and strategy. eg... hmmm eg... i haven't played EE in a while so someone else think them up. Would be totally awesome tho as long as it was done sensibly (duh xD)
