Sure saying it is stupid, because your not going to believe it. I believe quite a few certain things about God, many of which invalidate pretty much all the other religions from my perspective... but it's not my place to judge beyond my own relationship with God so you'll have to forgive me for not argueing sometimes when I feel it will do no good.
Each religion has different interpretations within it and the individual "decides" which they believe, everyone has a different perception of the true path and those perceptions also changes over time (both for the religion and the individual)...nevermind, cant be bothered to finish what i was saying.

I'll just say it's a good thing tha no extreamist catholics freaquent the offtopics forum as they don't have much of a sense of humor when it comes to Mary, and I wouldn't expect them to. Usually religiouse discussion is concidered flame-baiting, I think we have been rather well behaved so far... but I have my chains ready if needed.

See I imagine is Mary was teleported forward in time and hear that she probably wouldn't care. Back then people were to busy worrying about starving to death, being raped, getting disease, etc than people using them in a joke.

Makes me wonder why I installed Gentoo from a stage 2 tarball.

That story...that was trippy.
Also there is a lot of hard proof for evolution. Lots and lots and lots and LOTS of proof. Its how it started that is important to me. Did God, a Goddess, some alien being or something, just snap their finger and start it? Was it random chance?
Thats what the discussion should be focoused on, not whether evolution happened. Cause it happened and its still happening and its still going to happen...well at least to other spicies. Our's has stopped evolving thanks to civilization. Dose that make us bad? Nah... not really, just means we have to improve our MINDS not our BODIES.
Also just because something didn't happen...dosn't make it unture. I mean who cares if Jesus was ACTUALLY the son of god? Dose that suddenly make the lessons learned from his life and death invalid suddenly? No, not even a little. Just because I don't persoanlly belive in God...dosn't mean I shoulden't follow the lessons that have been taught to us by people who DO belive in God.
Or am I just nuts?

There is no real substance of proof of evolution. If you all will remember on his deathbed darwin himself said it was not possible.
The difference is what you believe in. What you believe in is what you believe in. Leave it at that.

As quoted from some spacial thingie
If a god does things right, the worshippers won't know he did anything at all.
So, thats where all creationalism and scientology plus everything else came from.. I have a feeling, that sometimes I really don't care... Like, just go with God's flow, ya know what I mean.. It's all in the past...

Proof of evolution? How would you do that? You CANNOT prove evolution because you CANNOT prove anything about the universe. With gravity we accept the theory that if we let go of a stone it falls to the ground. But what if that stone one day decides to fall upwards instead? That's the reason you can't prove anything about the universe because no amount of observation can tell you with 100% accuracy that everything will behave the same tomorrow.
watch some of the stuff on BBC 1 and 2 around the 9-10 slot. I did so a while ago and everything that was so philosiphical and well...BS IMO suddenly turned into arguments (which i love) between people, even better they were civilised arguments and both scientific and philosphical arguments were used, my favourite part inarguably where arguments about intelligent design were discussed in minute detail.
How can this small bug slowly develop a (EXTREMELY) complex mechanism to move itself from A-B? (this was a microscopic creature)
For: Bit by bit, long long proof about how it CAN be formed in bits and since it can happen in stages it is possible that it could happen (slowly, duh, but possible and indeed plausable)
Against: More philosphical than scientific, but still using both, arguing that there is a point of essentially 0 complexity. There IS such a thing as the most simple thing in the universe and that it could not have evolved, even from freak mutation etc. Also interesting rebuttals and re-rebuttals (or whatever you call them) against the aforementioned microscopic creature and how it moves.
It was Horizon or Panorama i think and this was a bleedy long time ago, 2-3 years.
Very interesting since i used to be a christian, quickly moved to anti-christian (god doesnt exist cos i say so! that noob is made of lose and fail), then to atheist, trying to understand their point of view boggled me, and then to more scientific. Of late i haven't actually thought much, exams spring and a job kept me from being more philosophical than reading the quotes RTW shows on the loading screens and stopped me from watching any more intellectual than 'Dude...wheres my car' 'Wheres my car dude' (:D)
Still find it interesting though, just not enough to spend my free time on anymore x)
