I think it does. See the shot where the turret bobs up and down through two portals on the ground?

alright then, conservation of linear momentum

.
if you jump into a hole vertically and fall out of one horizontally then something's gone wrong. unless it's angular momentum being conserved by some kind of bendy trajectory inside

Go play Narbacular Drop, a link was posted earlier. That has portals that work really well, and it has 'conservation of motion'. If you walk into a portal thats in the wall, and the exit is in the floor, you will 'walk' out of the floor, fall up a little bit (cause you were walking forwards), then gravity will turn you up the right way (like we saw in the portal video), and you can move again. It works really well, if it doesnt give you a headache...

You come out feet first if you do that. If you jump into a portal on the floor and come out of a portal on the floor you come out feet first and your character does a halfflip to right himself. Momentum is conserved realistically if you consider portals that can just be put anywhere realistic in the first place, your jumping from when plane where gravity is pulling one direction to another plane where gravity is pulling a different direction, and your momentum applies as such.

Narbacular Drop is pretty neat. It's a shame it only has ~5 levels (I wasn't counting).

The levels are pretty simple too, you can skip huge portions of them with a little practice. My favorate technique is using a portal to place another portal, you can basicly skip from portal to portal without ever leaving the entrance of the portal.

Yea, i did this a few times. Now im going to try to do it 'properly' using the paths set for you. But its still fun.

that's not conservation of linear momentum
it's different rule - conservation of momentum relative the the portal, not the same. like i said you must travel in an arc of the right angle inside it in order to shoot out the right way.

That looks like a teleporter... I think even the narb drop portal is about 50 times more advanced then that.

If you watch the video and look at the screenshots, its actually a portal that behaves almost excatly like the portal ones, just its round not oval.

Not really, it uses a camera effect to show the scene on the other side of the portal, only works one way, and works by teleporting the player from one portal to the other. In the game Portal, if you jump into a portal on the floor and the exit is on the floor you come out feet first and your character rights himself, he does not simply teleport from one portal to the other.

Meh, close enough. But its still pretty cool. Oh and you can do that in Narb as well. In the level where you meet the lava turtle, there is a nice ledge with dirt all around you can practice that type of stuff on. Try putting a portal on the floor, one in the wall, then jump off the ledge, into the portal, and come flying back onto the legde. Or, put a hole on the roof and on the floor, and jump. Endless fun, literally.

Ya, Narb is fairly high tech with the way it handles portals. They are basically a quite literal attachment between pieces of level geometry.

i see only a teleporter
not a portal
where we can have a foot in each room...
maybe i m bad looking
but i sugest the inclination :pitch/roll must be choise when drop

there's a spot where the object is bobbing up and down(1:50) between 2 portals and it's sticking out a little on both ends... so having a foot on both sides would appear to be pissible...
for momentum transference... remember the top part of you is still affected by vertical gravity from the source portal when your feet end up on the other side, so theres still a bit of puch happening

The portals don't stop working though, they just transfer from one area to another. However, most likely that would still result in the body being cut in half unless one of the portals was a master portal and the other properly slaved it so that it teleported the body rather then leaving it behind if it was half way through.
