I'm sure you could host our files in our downloads section as a mirror... Maby offer FU some mirror hosting as well, I bet they wouldn't mind.

That shots a month old at least, I'd really find it useful if I had a way of storing the following on a website

- Avatars
- User Tags
- Battle info
- Custom country flags
- AutoUpdater data (part of the project is a general components updater)

If anything I should uplaod a more upto date screenshot showing the GUI improvements, and the startup tabs(welcome pages/forums/darkstars/spring news) and extra options.....

If you really do have that much bandwidth/space/whatever then mirroring all of the content on fileuniverse would be a huge help to both reduce the strain on FU and provide an(other) alternative in the case of FU being down. Anyone else smell a bit of fishiness about those numbers?

dude... why not have the lobby hosted there? If it's a US host it's guaranteed to be a hell of a lot more stable than the lobby server we have now that is hosted in slovenia.

But I love my Slovenian Server! its closer to the UK than the US is.

Ie, More lag for you, Less lag for me ¬___¬

2 questions, what are the box specifications and what speed pipe are you on? We're looking for ways to help out FU with map downloads, but you'd need to have a pretty sturdy pipe to take on what they currently deal with.

i wonder if TAS central server supports multiple main lobby servers , capable to communicate together and reforward clients to these which are closer to them (dynamic offload) ...

same goes for map mirror distribution system...

that way it stop to matter where is lobby server located if there is at least one / continent

about hosting offers, what's about security, stability and trust level (like that You don't use "erase" function 2 weeks after all installed and runing)

Lets hope this could be used for a temporary FU..

Or maybe permanent primary mirror

Gishank's Server wrote: 3.000.000 gig storage
3.000.000 gig bandwidth (pd)
Unlimited MySQL's
Unlimited storage per MySQL
PHP 4/5
AND MUCH MORE!
It seems to me that this server definately outstrips the FU one by wide margin, so I see no reason not to make it the primary mirror.

For those not into the numbers, 3 PetaByte is quite a lot of storage space. :-)

But there is a commercially available 1 PetaByte "system" from EMC for about 4 million.

The main server is totally self sufficient, handlign everything.

The nearest to what you said si the redirect mode which is just passing people onto the next server along, so there'es no multiple lobby server support at all.

Well firstly it's a UK server located in south east london. Just because it's leet it doesn't mean it's not true.

Please, pipe speed, hardware specifications, it's all I asked for. Total storage space and how much bandwidth your ISP will let you use per month are great, but first of all I find it hard to belive you spent several million dollars for a 4 petabyte harddrive and if you have as much bandwidth as you say you do the server had best have a high enough pipe speed to take advantage of it.

this is b.s

noone is gona sell a computer with that much storage (which btw you would have to do alot of kernel hacking to make useable not to mention the physical space that it would take up. you would need a custom MOB aswell) for 999.99 and include bandwidth.

i think someone is fibbing.

:P
(It's right here next to me).

you either work at the data center or your bedroom is located there.

Dude i have 10 meg connection (Well i think there 10 meg). It's not a pc, it's a server, there alot diffrent. My ISP allows unlimited usage of everything for a set price per month. I would be happy to become a mirror as a download site, but i am takeing the entire offer away seeming as i'm getting crap for having a 1337 server

Your not getting crap for having a l337 server, people are just having a field day quashing the stats you originally posted.

4 Petabytes of Storage...........

You should have told us it was a 10MB connection earlier!
