for examples of this being done correctly see the "stains" under buildings in Warcraft3 or Age of Empires... this effect is used for drawing coblestones or runes on the ground around buildings and that kind of thins.

No, you've misuderstood what I'm saying, this would further the ground building decal feature thing.

We could have another map of decal or not, at the smallest buiding footprint size, so under it plus two footprints outwards was drawn over, plus if you say had two buildings really close together, or a ring of buildings, it would fill it in.
