It is not about mods it is about attitudes in general.

Well in that case you need to get over it... for one, your attitude is one of the worst ive seen just have to flick through some of your previous posts for that.

I don't agrea. I am just more open, I don't see the point of fucking around with alot of the passive agressive bullshit and the whole thinly veiled critisism I like to be forward. I find direct statements far less offensive.

being open, making statements, critique, "helping", being forward, aren't those all just metaphors for the very "opposition" you're blaming other people for?

The problem isn't what you say, it's in the way you say it. It could help to be more tactfull, that is to use less exclamation marks and all caps. For example...

Was not realy necesary, somthing along the lines of:

"Dude, you are talking about 3do, it is a different format.
We are talking about s3o."

Would be much more tactfull, all i did was remove the all caps and exclamations, and then the unnecesary first word and last line.


I'm not saying that every post of yours is like this, this is an extreme example, but some of your posts do seem somwhat demeaning.

Machio, I really don't know what your problem with me is. However, my problem with their critiques is that they are not helpfull.

They are simply in the way of positive discussion. Instead they are quite degenerative and often times worthless. I will go into detail with you because you seem like a nice guy that probably misunderstands where I am coming from.

I am going to pick on argh because his is the most recent. Now, prior to this I did just ignore argh and I figured he was trying to help. I released my mod, not a day later I get a long reply from argh. So I thought, this oughta be interesting. At the time I was relatively cool with argh so I was valuing his opinion.

He goes into a long tirade about features my mod lacks. Most of these features are things spring does support. He knows this but he continues. Then he gets to the part that really ticked me off. He procedes to critique the mod based on what he had seen in the anime. Now bear in mind his idea of the anime was not even close to correct. He rails me about many things that are really beyond my control as a moder. As pissed as I was about his response there was one part that DID catch my attention as valuable..

He noted that the animations had a sliding. This is entirely possible a while back I had to to a unilateral speed increase to the mod(long story) and many of the animations are still being fixes. Well, I asked argh to expound and tell me what units were doing this... the reply I got was none. I had a page of bullshit with one sentence of worthwhile critique. I thought why would he post that. Then many howlers(people who bascialy repeat whatever someone else says) came in they argued the points he was making with me. Much to my disgust none of them had really played the mod.

So, I re-read arghs post trying to glean some information. Information yeilded = 0! I realized it was simply a thinly veiled I hate your mod. I did not understand why he would do that. I thought and thought about his post, that MAYBE I was misunderstanding him. Maybe, there was some greater wisdom to it all. So I asked fang, another moder who I respect about arghs points. He didn't understand them, neither did many of my play testers.

Then I realized something he does this to other mods threads. He will go in denounce the entire thing. Talk crap and never really give you anything to work with in order to fix things. It is just social games. That is where he began to really get to me. So I thought, ok what else is the guy up to and read his bullshit post about EE. WOW, I was defending him just the other day wtf. I was backing the WRONG horse.

So fast forward to today. I have been working on uvmapping to get better so I can get fast enough to produce like lathan. Well, after finishing that flea something was bothering me. It looked so pink. So I thought maybe it is the texture and may it is the reflections.. nope none of that so I then realized that the red is ACTUALLY pink. WOW, how did this get through? So I made a post and thought... crap argh is going to chime in with some ego-stroking bullshit out of his ass about how I am doing it wrong... and he did. I HATE being right when I realize someone is a prick. That is what finally set me off.

Don't get me wrong I am an asshole. I am beligerent and can be a hypocrate... so can everyone. We are all varying levels of this. However, my point is that basically I still help everyone I can. I don't do this for props I do it... I really don't know why. I sometimes wish I would stop. Anyway, the point is that I always mean to help something the ONLY time I am not posting the help is with Final Frontier because Optimus will not allow any other perspective. This is sad because I used to really like final frontier.

Anyway, I am longwinded and everything everyone says gets stuck in my head... yeah it is because I am kinda ocd. Details of things get to the point of obsession. So when someone does what argh does and doesn't really explain what he means I am stuck for days obsessing over what can I do to fix it. It is something that really I have no way of helping.

Does that help maybe a litte? I know it is kind of long winded but I have a hard time explaining it. I know it is verbose, I really am having a hard time not including every little detail here so if you need me to expound on a point I'll do my best but that is the best shortform answer I can offer.

The point is that some people here instead of really helping basically toute themselves off as being an authority on all things having to do with game design and balance, and if you dont do what they say or do it how they say than your are clearly a fool in their eyes.. what they offer is not advice its just a thinly veiled attempt to enforce conformity to their viewpoint.. IM sorry but I dont think that Caydr, or Argh or Smoth, or Me or any modder Is 100% qualified to toute themselves off as the official know it all of game design and balance and to act in such a way that indicates you think you are is purely annoying to everyone else.

We are trying to establish where the line is so we can ensure more mods are not on that grey line. Right now spring utilizes a lot of OTA content but we are starting to replace all that shit. He was completely off topic. That discussion has happend ad nausium, I wanted the thread to go back to the correct discussion.

As far as helping him that was asinine, explaining to him the TA copyright stuff would have derailed that thread into a sepperate discussion. Also you cannot deny that I am often helping people.

As far as ego, not really. I just like spring and want it to look better. I perpetually asking people about their opinion of my mod. Not because I like to hear "ITS SOOO AWESOME" NO, I am looking for errors I have overlooked. I know I make mistakes.

I decided to read the posts you refer to.
And I see now what your point is.
You know what you did wrong Smoth.. you tried to counter his post with factual stuff.
You should not have done that and instead should had pointing out to him that his post had no real overall value.
That way the thing could have been resolved then and there - no biggy.
There is no quick and easy way to resolve this mess now and return to cooperative state.
Not to mention that you (and apparently others) have had difficulty with someone for months.. that drains on you.

Next to that this is really unfair to Argh and Caydr as you are nailing them quite publicly here.
You give them no way to handle this gracefully.

First you check with others if you have some support then you attack them here publicly and then you ban yourself for a week so you don't have to deal with the fallout.

MechaSonic has a cool avatar, but is simply put, a Class Clown who has trouble translating his humouristic tendencies into anything that can be appreciated by the popouse "vetrans" of the forums... he can be compared to the young man making fun of girls because he can't think of any other way to relate to them.
SinbadEV, the self proclaimed wiki enthusiast, awful spring player, and general know it all, is more interested in making people feel stupid by providing them obviouse answers then calling them out on it. He is very frustrated when people post legitimate suggestions or requests for help and people mock them instead of helping them and mocking them at the same time, or completly misunderstand the orriginal intent of the author and cause further grief by airing their ignorance.

You forgot that I do this because I am a social massochist, but a very apt assesment... and it was Psych 101 and Intro to Spciology at a private college, but close, still only 2 books.

Anyhow, i know Argh and Caydr, (to mention some of the most active modders) and many others not so active users of this forum, may be mistaken many times in their aseveration, or criticism, not realizing or fixing their mistakes.

we are humans.

That said, you must learn to understand and forgive in case someone is rainig you the shit with no reason.

Or to take back stuff when you were wrong, and its proper to do it.

and as the time is correct, i point argh caydr and noize to apologize or at least acknowledge this bug they all said was unexistent, yet its fixed in the last changelog.
