Just created a new account in there. 2 (Two) full MegaBytes! That should be enough to hold .. almost nothing.

But if you want more you can have more (for example change your country to US and you get RSS feeds and browser based GTalk, and quick contacts, which can also be turned off)
Yeah, the in-browser IM is great for school....

The onyl way to access hotmail outside the browser is through OutLook and forpayign custoemrs because to get Outlook you have to pay,a dn Outlook si the main paid for email client to the average user that Microsoft offers. That and It encourages usage fo MS Office as it's usually bundled with it.
GMail will work with any email client that supports spop3 I think it is, that being all the major email clients including outlook and Thunderbird. I think it also does IMAP support.
You can also set gmail up to forward all the mail you get to another account,or setup a filter that only forwards some of it.
You can also turn pop3 support on and off.

Plus, last time i checked, Hotmail didnt work correctly in Firefox. they layout was all screwed up. Gmail works in IE and Firefox. I havnt tested in the other ones, but it probably works. The filters and labels in GMail are great, and I make use of them regularily. The space is great, I hardly delete anything. I know it sounds like im a Google fan boy pimping their latest toy, but it really is good.

Not it doesn't, not at all. I could confirm it while creating that test account. While i had it open, Firefox was opening me "Ctrl+F"s while i was typing stuff.
Need i remind that Microsoft had to pay a indimnization of millions to Opera Software because they're MSN sites were using code specifically crafted to make they're sites apear wrongly in the Opera browser?

There's an extension for firefox that displays pages using the IE browser engine embedded in a firefox tab so you need never laod up IE when a page refuses to work with anythign but IE, so there're no excuses for not switching.
Youc an even get extensions and themes that make firefox so similar to IE you can barely tell them apart.
