I'm sorry to say, maybe it's only me, but your sounds sound like extreme clipping and commodore64 like. I will look into this, if it's my problem. As far as the idea of making new sounds for TA: Spring, GREAT !! have been thinking about that also for some time!
However this isn't fully legal, but the (old) game M.A.X. (Mechanised Assault & Exploration) had some very great sounds, esspecially the explosions!
I don't want to copy-paste, if that's what you guys are thinking, but i could use some of the samples!
Maybe i'll give this one a shot also!
Good luck anyway, hopefully it's my sound system!

you don't like the commodore?
It had a very good audio unit! :)
Dr.InfernO won't suggest to use copyrighted stuff.
If you use those sounds of the good old M.A.X. than do it at your own risk.

All media players on my Linux system have a hard time with wav.
MPlayer plays samples badly.
VLC is clipping a little at the one second mark.
Only Audacity plays most files nicely.
I don't realy know why maybe it's the esd sound system as Audacity uses its own?
But the samples themself are nice.

Strange, they seem clipped for me too in winamp, but not in audacity (except the two starting with x, which are clipped in both.)
Maybe the problem is you exported as 32 bit wav. After I exported as 16 bit wav from audacity, it sounded much better in winamp. I don't know how they would appear in spring.

okay then. I don't have audacity, but winamp and adobe audition both play the samples with a lot of clipping.
And though, i very much do like the commodore64 !! i once made some song remixes of Kick Starter, The Last Ninja, Hawkeye, Wiz- and HypaBall and some more..

Anyone else get an error when using the sounds? It crashed and said:
"READWAV:Invalid format tag"
I am %100 sure the thing is called correctly in the TDF, ive checked perhaps 5-6 times now.

As far as i know, TA used sounds from a company/guy called The Orchest, or something similar, which was selling a pack of large amounts of sounds for use by the buyer. So, even though the sounds are not original of TA, doesn't really changes much.
Comonly heard, too, is the sound of fire. But the crown goes to the «comander under atack» which is all over the place. Many sounds of TA Kingdoms are also used in other places like a dog like sound, which can be heard everywhere too. I guess that guy sold alot of those packs of sounds.
