Seriously though, atleast Forboding is putting some effort into making the TA Spring community a better place. Not only producing maps but a helpful tutorial.

Which is appreciated, hrmph. His maps, or most of them, still worked after the recent patch as well.

I've always considered it a service to slap people when they're being stupid. If nothing else, it helps them vent stored up anger. Everything that I say - most especially the insults - are said with humor at the forefront. Forboding hopped into the room all bitter about something or another and jumped over people that he wanted to be quiet with very similar terms to those that he objected to. How will he benefit from the stiffer rules and penalties that he now champions? oO

would at least attempting to act mature be too much to ask?

Judging from the laughs I got, to include subsequent duct taping comment laughs, I would conclude that it is just you. Even NOiZE, though he qualified that he could see why another mod might kick for that, said that he himself likely wouldn't. oO

I don't think backseat modding and provoking shock humorists to action is acceptable #main behavior.

I'm not permamuting people because of something they did in chatlog either, and mutes can only be applied temporarily because of the way they are structured (they are extreamly easy to dodge). Forboding if you have the priviledge of playing spring then you have the priviledge of saying what you want in #main, and if you mess one up you mess both up. We're not looking for ways to ban people for virtually nothing.

I expect people to know better then to try to uphold the rules for the mods. I've seen it before and I'll see it again, backseat modding almost always leads to flamewars and way more work for the mods to clean up in the end. If someone is bugging you then either you need to ignore then and go do something else, or if you honestly feel it's something that deserves moderator attention PM a mod and report them. The chat log I see here is a VERY 2 way argument and the evidences both sides are presenting was directly provoked by the other side.

As a mod I see troublemaking and provoking troublemakers as two sides of the same coin. If I was going to level dicipline on any comunity members for this event I would be leveling it both ways.

well before we had mods, we couldn't do anything except warn. Ya know before I disagreed on having set rules, but now I can see the wisdom in having them.

As for helping the community, I seem to recall test running a few of your maps back in the day, not that that's worth as much as creating them (which is worth a lot less than modding, which is worth a lot less than working on the engine itself), and, tweaking aside, do everything within my limited knowledge to help people find basic resources on technical issues and teach people how to actually play the game itself - something that you could use. When shall I schedule your lesson? =D

How about this buddy, I am a modeler, mapper, texture artist and programmer. While I know you may not have the mental capacity for half of these skills drop your pad o' random insults and pseudo-witty comebacks and think maybe, just maybe you trolls are being over then line?

Maybe the fact that we have 3 people actively trolling and generally testing the moderator where they can to alleviate their boredom pisses the rest of us off. Please note that there's nothing particularly "civilized" about any discourse held between troll and troll troll, in these forums or elsewhere. If you're under the impression that I got a mod to come down on my side in any way, then I suggest that you reread Swift's post, which calls all of us down for immaturity, which I've never argued against. To me, given that I have better than average skills in written communication, chatting in a lobby with like-minded players (and we all at least have TA in common) is a part of being in the community is both an entertainment in and of itself, and a welcome breather between games. While engaged in silliness, I and your other "trolls" are present to field a lot of questions from new users that you'll likely never see nor care about, so it's curious to me that letting "bygones be bygones" doesn't work for you.

He is trolling, but I doubt he would be if this thread wasn't still here. He barely ever even used to post on the forums. I haven't been on lobby recently because of midterms so I haven't been able to assess how widespread the problem is. Back in the day Tired was a model spring member and a great guy to play with. But it seems now that there's active moderation in the forums and everyone is lobbying thier own case in terms of what rules should be enforced and who should and shouldn't be banned, and of course everyone is up in arms against eachother for everything because of it. I'm frustrated that people are asking me to ban spring members with 400+ playing hours because they got in a fight with them over thier conduct on client. If conduct is that disturbing to you report it, pointing it out or asking things to change without a position of authority is just going to get them biting at your coat tails. If you tell any able blooded american how they should be behaving there's a 90% chance they will do the oppposite because that's just the way they are.
