No, the point is, if we were to be doing this to comply with, oh, Danish laws, and Danish users represented a significant portion (~50%) of the Spring community, the answer would have more likely been "Oh, that's easy, it'll only take three minutes to do". However, change Danish laws to American laws, and you have an entirely different animal: "oh, I don't see why we'd need to do that, it's not necessary, the servers are in Sweden, wait, they're in Slovenia, Sweden doesn't care, yadda yadda yadda", which is a direct product of the predominant European attitude - at least the attitude that I saw in my three years of living there - of "we love Americans, we just don't like the United States".

Absolutely nothing. I disagree with almost everything that the US government does. That doesn't, however, generate distaste for the United States as a whole. It generates distaste for whatever weasel happens to be cavorting about in the Oval Office at the time. However, the trend that I saw in Europe was the equate the US government with the United States as a whole. This is a fallacy. A country consists of its people and its land. Saying that you love Americans but dislike the United States is either saying that you dislike the land upon which the United States is sited, or is a false statement, and you really dislike more than just US land.

If the Europeans whom I spoke to had wanted to say that they love Americans but disagree with actions of the US government, they should have said that.

Well, if you dislike the US government but a majority of the US population keeps that government in power...
Any normal person would also dislike the majority of the US population.

But back on topic, you can make a different thing pop-up for every country.
So for you guys in the US you get the US 13 years age thing and if your in Saudi Arabia you get the Woman need written approval from father/husband.
For the Dutch version it would be a random porn picture.
And so on.

No, it definetly was not! The point was that Fnordia said it made no sense to make the lobby comply to some other country's rules and you went straight to assume "America-hating"!

Why not just add a notice saying that by registering in the lobby/installing spring, you comply with the law in your area/country? Problem solved.
