So far i know what this game is going to be like and its going to far exeed any other RTS around.
The game is going to have 500 to 1000 units per side!!! the maps are going to be Bigger then ever before and if you think thats it you gots another thing commen because its going to have so many more elements that has never been seen in another game before!!!
according to chris taylor Supcomm will be the next biggest modded game ever
Yea, and did you hear about the specific map sizes? Chris Taylor says there are gonna be really big maps. And trust me, when Chris Tatlor says big, he means BIG. He stated that the maps would go up to 4000 x 4000!!
I'm not too sure what 4000 of, but you would think the units would be the same as TA.
Oh, and an idea for modding SupCom... How about making a total conversion that changes it back to the classic TA!

Yep!

And it will shoot fire from it's eyes, and lightning bolts from it's arse.
Seriously, am I the only one who finds the 23x23 max size of Spring to be quite big enough? I mean, I always see players complaining about wanting bigger maps, but I've never seen a case where the existing max sized maps weren't quite big enough.

Well in Supcom the units will be larger and smaller. It will range from pewee sized infantry bots and flipping huge forty times the size of Krogoths type spiders and sutch.
But the maps will be huge, the battles would be huge and the resourses would be huge.
Every thing will be BIG!!!!!!

id like to have map in spring that 100x100... there u would need transports...
usually transports are only used on some stupid craw bomb strategy or some like that... but when we have map thats 100x100 we really need to use transports

I use transports all the time, they're very handy for making air bridges to supprise your enemy.

Nah let spring do it there way whats the point of having 100 differnt mods of the same game.

4000 x 4000
Chris Taylor is probably refering to heightmap bitmap size, that's the only meaningful unit for mapsizes when you're comparing terrain systems.

Can someone convert that to Spring map sizez?

4096/64=64, that would be a 64x64 size map I think... but maybe one of the mappers should confirm.

Heres all the Supreme Commander pics released by GPG so far, no fakes as posted earlyer. The first 2 are fairly new and they have the super carrier sub in one of them. Don't drool too much... Yes I know the water's addicting...

Except that Supreme Commander can have bigger maps with higher detail then Spring. Only a fool would have the money to buy the memory for making that size of image, plus mapconv would kill it's self just looking at the filesize. Oh and lets not forget that everything in Supreme Commander will have normal mapping(even the terrian) making the textures 10 times more realistic. Let the drooling comence!

Hmmm. The water looks better, but not by much. Theres stuff that spring can do much better, AFAIK. For example, the design of the dropcraft looks to be EXACTLY the same as the OTA ones, just able to carry more units. I'm sure spring can beat that with units that actually have airspeed that varies due to what they are carrying. Or perhaps with unittypes for carrying, rather than JUST weight. That way, you can't carry a kroggy, or a supertank, even if its under that paticular transport's weight limit....

Peeps should just make a SupCom: Sping, so we will be able to play good old Spring on the SupCom Engine.

I don't think Supream Commander has deformable terrain either...although I might have missed it.
