i feel like watching a excell-sheet handle course. Realism triumphs again over show dont tell, bureaucracy from hell. Srsly, why do those guys think sins won that MoO 2 succesor seat? Because it kept true to a ages old concept?

Sins is a real time strategy game...
Sins won the Homeworld seat not the Moo seat.

rattle, can these mods apeal to you in any case?

and

Because sins isnt that bad, once you play mods for it.
Home-world had a base game-play idea that was brilliant for an RTS.

hm maybe join legend of pegasus and endless space threads, as both topics are getting quite similar D:

So far, I've never liked a real time grand strategy game. For RTS game play my taste is somewhere in between brood war and Balanced Annihilation. I like a smallish contained battle between a small number of sides that doesn't sprawl on for hours, and has more tactical than strategic decisions.

I don't like SOaSE, I find Star Ruler taxing. I'm not interested in PAX.

I don't want my 4X games to feel like RTS games, I play 4X because they're slow, enjoyable and I can choose weather to micromanage every little thing in my empire or just let it do whatever it naturally would. I can go grab a coke in the middle of my turn. I can sit for and lose 8 hours to the game in one sitting because the pace is constantly the pace I want to play at, it never forces me to move faster or slower than I want to. I don't mind a real time tactical combat system, but honestly, I'd prefer even those stay in the realm of turn based, and I like to be able to skip them without too much penalization. I honestly don't really even play the games for the combat at all.

that whole turn based vs real-time argument doesent count, since the invention of the "Break"key that still allows issuing commandos. Only exception is mutliplayer

dawn of victory sure looks good but does it play differently?
to me sins was just macro focused starcraft in outer space.

edit: up close the textures are rather meh, without a bunch of shaders and some distance... oh well I do like the concept of WW2 in space, everyone likes space nazis!
