It is so nice that Apple is inventing all those neat things like Capacitive Sensing, so we can post from our iPhones.

Excellent! Now I can finally have my fingers replaced by plasma balls, and I will still be able to use my computer. My master plan will finally come to fruition.

I know the basic technology has been used in input devices since the late 70s, i.e., the switching mechanism for keyboards (BTC, IBM Model F, etc).

Sensors can be problematic at times. If you don't want to take it apart or try to get your laptop repaired you could always try something similar to this:
