Here's the thing about generics: they can't afford to get sued if a babby formed. They also have looser quality controls. The end result is that they crank the dosages higher so that the +/-n% of QC is still above the minimums.
That means more side-effects.

As others say there are lots of different pills.
And also condom is not THAT bad, you can both get used to it.
Major annoyance is you might not have one when needed in some strange places!
And vasectomy at 21... don't be mad you can sure change your mind, I met lots of people who claimed they want no kids at this age and now have one or two. If you really want to, make sure to keep frozen sperm.

That is an outright lie. It is easier to make a female birth control pill than a male one. It is that simple.

weight gain on the pill.. sorry man a lot of women say that but many of them are getting on the pill around the same time as the freshmen 15 which is just a natural part of weight gain. Women in the us are fat because they are lazy and held to lighter standards than men. Sure there is all that body image crap but none of that is about actual healthy build. Just like women with large breasts and back pain. really? bitch exercise your shoulders and back. NOT A ONE DOES it and if they do it is some bs dvd jazzercise shit. Not getting in the gym and really working out. So I reject that overly coddling view of women. Yes society a little different in it's treatment of women.
Yes they get paid less. They also get pregnant and take 9 month maternity leave. Yes they get a period and cramps, they also use that as a general excuse to act irresponsible. I know women who get bad periods and the last thing they have time for is to run around acting like a retarded bitch.
People are lazy and make excuses.
All this boo hoo, I am a woman and I have it hard because I can get pregnant. Yes she has to take a pill but also unlike us she gets to be the thing to bring a life into the world. She can feed it with her breasts and will have a literal blood bond with that child. That is beyond amazing, so what if she has to take pills. I could post a picture of my medicine cabinet, it is 2 fucking rows deep. Men bear the actual weight of the family, society demands more of us and frankly I think it is bullshit to sit there and coddle women. This coming from a feminist! I believe in womens rights and their beauty and natural role in the world is a great one. However, the equalist in me also feels that women will never be equal, simply because unless they are sterile and raised to actual standards instead of the coddling little girls get, they are unreliable and that is fact. You might get some hyper competitive bitch that can really throw the punches with men but really they simply are not equal because men are different, just like women.

Here is what I do know that may help you. try and see if she is on generics, if she is, get her on the brand name for a while, it might be more expensive, but fucking hell, it is her body and the only one she has.
Vasectomies can be reversed, tuboctomies once reversed can result is tubal preggers(forget the proper term) and that is potentially fatal. Vasectomies also have a chance to undo themselves, so don't expect a guaranty. The shot may or may not work, panda tried it, it had bad results. Fact of the matter is the pill can be unreliable if she ever misses it, you guys are in for a world of hurt.
So check into that. Have a meeting with her gynecologist. you are her partner, be supportive and visit with her. A gynecologist can give you better advice then a bunch of neckbeards on the spring forum.
She goes to the gym 5 times a week with me and we do real exercies, etc. she is in great shape but always puts on about 10lbs when on the pill. it is not "freshman" 15, she is 22 lol.
it turns out she is on generics, we'll try another pill and see if it does better.
thankfully we live in Canada so the morning after pill/abortions are readily available at family planning centers to aide women with their right to choose.

I exercise regularly, am in good shape, and have been on the pill for quite some time and have never experienced weight gain because of the pill even though the packet says that weight gain is a side effect. You two should really go and consult a gynecologist together to learn more about contraceptives and what's going on with your girlfriend. Not all women are very well informed about that kind of thing. I know that I've always had to be careful about what kinds of medications I take, including over-the-counter medications. I've always had problems with fainting, which isn't that uncommon in women even though a lot of women don't have it. The birth control that I'm on seems to have reduced that problem and it helps my skin. I'm glad I'm taking it instead of the shot, because that really made me feel sick and I agree with Smoth that you should ask the gynocologist about switching from the generic brand of birth control.
I'd also be scared to have to take the morning after pill. I'm sure that it would knock me out for at least a day and probably have plenty of other horrible side effects. You should really talk to your girlfriend and the gynocologist about that. You don't want to end up in a situation where she needs to take the morning after pill and, then find out that she doesn't want take to. I think it's a horrible situation to be in, but it happens.
Going to the gynecologist together is a great way to show that you care and to become educated. Before you go, you two should try to think of some good questions to ask. You should also read the informational pamphlets that are often available to you for free at the clinic.

I totally agree with Panda. Go talk to an expert and get some advice.
Some women just can't take the Pill or use hormones at all without serious problems, some need a carefully-calibrated dosage. With her level of side-effects, she's risking her ability to have children later, and possible other serious complications, like cancer.
As for vasectomy... it's "reversible" in the sense that you may be able to have it un-done, but that's not a guarantee. The top rate is 90%- i.e., there's a 1-in-10 you can't maek baby later.
You'd have to freeze up a lot of sperm to have any realistic chance of having a baby later, if it can't be reversed (which, btw, is not just some fun fapping into a cup, go read up about that), and vasectomies are like getting punched in the balls for a week.
Also, I know that you think you're certain at 21 that you don't want kids, but frankly that's a decision that you may need to re-evaluate in a few years, depending on various things, most especially including what your woman wants (and if she hasn't expressed a strong preference, you'd better bet on "yes" and plan accordingly).

In Canada, your GP handles your reproductive issues. The Ob/Gyn is only used on special recommendation from you GP (or if you're preggers).

I love you to. Feel free to call me a bigot rather than confront the points as are. It's all good, enjoy your delusions. Men and women ARE different, when you get older you will understand. I am telling you because I was silly like you once, it is only reasonable to recognize and acknowledge the differences between genders. Some things are trucks some things are cars, neither one is better.
Again she didn't merely take the meds and gain ten pounds instantly. Also you describe it as though she was going on and off of them she will end up pregnant like that.
Again, I repeat my earlier advice, you need to go with her to the gynecologist. You should probably step out for the examination though as that might be a bit awkward or at the least sit off to the side.

It's your thread bro. If you ever want to talk about this stuff though, pm me. I have no issue with trying to help another dude out esp ones who are sensitive to females.
P.S. panda is my gf and she is also a good person to talk to about this shit.

thanks for the offer.
i'd rather talk about with this stuff about my gf, for one she is an educated woman with first-hand experience in our sexist society. with her double-major bachelor of science in politics/womens studies and a master of science in assaulted womens/childrens psychology, when she read your post she scoffed at your ignorance/bigotry.
i'll be taking my advice from better sources thanks.
we'll be trying another condom tonight, went for the larger size as the other one wouldnt fit on.
couldnt find a decent way to measure them....the one we tried was "standard" at 53mm girth. we found another "standard" at 50mm. i bought the "large" today, 58mm. the "magnums" were 58mm too! hard to make a choice when you have to drop 20 bucks on them

that seems expensive. Depending on brand/super market there are 25-50 cent per Verh├╝terli here. Smallest package contains 4 for 0.99Ôé¼ or something.

I was guessing the joke would probably either be about studying a woman's anatomy, or something generically bigoted (and therefore funny) like studying the ------- sink.
No need to get defensive
