Just start handing out day/week/month bans willie nillie.

i dont ever want people to be banned;

i just think sometimes tone/content of negative feedback is not good enough, esp for a learning environment. just pisses me off when people who know what they're doing are unwilling to share their knowledge and possibly help people; hearing "i dont like it" with no context doesn't help a thing right?

i'd think mostly we're all friends here, and should be more friendly to each-other. i realize its asking a lot for "detailed and honest critique" but to see only that on this forum would make me happy; a certain degree of familiarity occurs when you're working alongside people for a long time, but you also have to think of the perspective of someone viewing from the outside who doesn't really know anyone... sometimes the forum could seem quite hostile, no?

Foelist works fine: I also resent those useless posts, were people are to lazy to use the tutorial search function and the wiki, and start assking, sometimes in threads without any idea what the real topic is. Or those teenfags who like to establish a one man dictatorship in #main and do map/mod/stuff singlehandedly, because the Scarlett S on there Shirts told them they could do it.

On the other hand, if you think about it as a circus with a travelling zoe, you can accept that along with some amazing stunts, there comes a bunch of people who have to shovel elephant bollocks - and a clown who has to step into them. :)

Yeah, i wish emmanuel was still here... makes me sad to think back how such an enthusiastic person got banned because he was just a bit different from us. Now hes pro at making games and modelling.

I agree this forum is very hostile through the users and moderators as well.

Agreed that voting is a poor idea.

I realise I've contributed to this problem in the past. Honestly I don't think it needs a paticularly heavy hand; just "hey please don't make posts like that in future". If people think the forum is "cared for", they're much more likely to try and be constructive.

Okay, but honestly, This is just not only development or engine forum. It's a community forum. Don't reject the people as they are part of it.

If you want just strict, clean, matter-of-fact development forum then separate it to it's own private one with strict rules and membership appliance.

Part of me died when Trib got banned.

Im sure hes here, just using other nicks... thats why bans are so pathetically stupid anyways. You can create new account without anyone knowing...

Banning people is only a political way to show you their admin powers so you get scared and start behaving and do what ever they say. Thats how every government works too... kill some innocent scapegoats and everyone scares the hell out and stops talking about the problems in that country... could name few of such countries from the top of my head

I lold my head off when i got banned after not posting for few weeks, and then commenting some game that it sucks (with constructive critics). First i thought they banned me because i said the game sucks but the real reason for ban was even funnier!
