It depends what the Mutliplayer is like. For example, look at the figures for a game like Halo or Call of Duty where the Multiplayer is significantly more fun than Single player. Then you've got to take into account how much time spend on each SP and MP, then take into account the number of people who can't play MP due to using a cracked version of a game, limited or no internet access or Xbox Live or w/e and other factors.
In my experience of life I've found pretty much everybody I've known has enjoyed playing Multiplayer games more than Singleplayer games and play Multiplayer more because of that.

The majority of people, particularly in this genre, play only single player. Single player is usually a much greater investment in terms of development time as a result. It acts as a gateway for those who can be converted to be converted. The people we hang out with are most similar to us, and thus are not representative of people as a whole.
In 1944, we found that between the odd install set up, the lack of single player and the lack of story, over 95% of people never made it into game. We're just one example among thousands of commercial and noncommercial titles.
