Transformers. I was an obsessive Transformers fan when I was a kid. And yeah, Sabre Rider and the Star Sheriffs was cool... although I hated how all the Anime back in the day ended with a "finishing move" - it made the whole rest of the battle seem pointless. Plus, Ramrod's finishing move (a bunch of big chest cannons) was kind of lame.
Anybody remember the show Inhumanoids? That one gave me nightmares.
I miss the days of action-figure-driven cartoons like Skyriders and MASK and Transformers - for shows like that, it wasn't enough to be merely *good*. You had to make the kids into obsessive fans who would rush to the store and buy every damned toy you made.
Since videogames have killed off action figures, that genre is pretty much gone.

The Robotech/Macross series was a little before my time, but it had tonnes of awesome action-figures. The damned thing was like Star Wars for little Japanese kids, and they imported all the toys for that one.
