People who have success are often loud mouths?
WTF are you talking about...
There are only a few areas where you need to have a big mouth but look at all the richest people in the world..do they have a loud mouth?pffff they are quiet diligent and clever not loud and blunt.

You could argue that beeing a real genious is a gift and you cant be blamed if you have it or not, so the geniouses are "just" lucky

Fixing bugs often requires the real genius thinking because it's much harder to fix a bug than it is to write that buggy code.

Here's How I see it:

Genius*Motivation=Achievement

(100 being average Genius, 1 Being average Motivation, so the average person achieves %100 (100*1=100))

So the MOST successful people are Motivated Geniuses (150*2 = 300)
A person who has high Motivation or Genius will succeed to a certain degree (100*2 = 200 or 150 * 1 = 150)
A Slacker exhibits fractional motivation (between 0 and 1) so you get
(150 * 0.5 = 75) because they don't even have normal levels of motivation.

Incredible luck is not a reason why he became so rich?

Why take the richest people in the world? Chances are you dont get extremely rich no matter what you do.
What about taking normal people as an example and not the pop stars?

Look at your boss who is maybe a moron, takes credit for you work and knows how to wrap his boss around his little finger.
Often producing hot air gets you promoted, people who should have the job of the hot air producer and have the right skills dont get promoted.

motivation is infinitely more valuable than inherant intelligence.

I completely agree... but I doubt you could argue that between two people with the same level of motivation the one with the higher level oh inherent intelligence would not have a higher degree of success... even if you do think that, the purpose of my book would be to provide employers or those in relationships with slackers to promote higher levels of motivation which is exactly what you are saying slackers need more of...

wish I could, but that would take motivation, which I don't have because I'm lazy... sorry.

Also, I'm not entirely convinced I crave attention... if that were the case I would expect that getting positive attention for achievement would be a sufficient motivating factor.

This thread isn't about me, I rarely make threads about me... I just happen to often include some self-reference when I am an example of something being discussed... Okay, obviously I have constructed some significant self-delusion here and need to rethink my life.

He was almost obsessed about making better engines , so you cant say he had to push himself.
All he wanted to do was to code, thats how the book describes it.
That guy tried to steal a computer when he was young.

Hes a genious because he did things that others couldnt do technically at that time.

You need to push yourself to do some physically hard or boring work.
When you always ask yourself why am I doing this?

Then you need to make yourself get up every morning.
When you do what you like you junp out of bed.

I dont say he didnt work hard but he loved to do it thats a big difference.

When you do what you love and basically make your hobby a job and get really rich doing that then you feel great and you dont feel like youre working.
I would trade places with such a person anytime.

But enough now I made it clear enough to understand.

I love working on code and hobby projects. I still procrastinate because it's still work.

Before doing anything at all, first think what you will do for the next X time units (or alternatively: decide you'll do Y until it's finished). Then do it. And when finished, start again at the begin of this paragraph
