This is really just an attempt to deal with a missing feature in TA:Spring that most other MP games have- host transferring.
ALot of other MP games will transfer host control over to other players when the original host leaves. That would solve the issue completely, although the program would want to decide who has the best connection first.

For that matter, there should also be a feature that transferrs units from a teammate to other teammates when someone exits the game and leaves his units behind.

there is... but none of us can figure out how to make it work... ask SJ... for now you can share YOUR team (h) to the missing player and then .cheats .team # over to that team

yeah but thats a mission + u get info on enemy positions etc (subconciously i don't say u do deliberately)

You should be able to do that with the recently added .take command:
