Just a little note: Do NOT use Epic Legions content for this; because of the limits GW places on mods using their copyright, you're not allowed to mix it with other stuff.
I'm not against it personally; it's a copyright issue.

I know. It seems to have been eaten by the forum O_o
Anyway, what I was saying is: Don't use Epic Legions stuff; Games Workshop doesn't allow mixing their stuff with other stuff. It's a copyright thing.

I think this would be an interesting idea, and I would be glad to contribute my hodgepodge group of models as a team.
The only thing I would probably need help on are effects. I would really like to learn how to make purty effects but with limited time and a horrible ability to focus makes it a bit difficult.

I am currently modeling a team for this project just as something to do in my free time. Not going to say a whole lot other than I'm working on one.
If it's cool, I'm also probably going to design a logo and a load screen template so we can have a streamlined and nice look to the mod. Let me know your feelings on this TFC.

This sounds like a good time. I'm imagining Ground Control crossed with CA in Chicken Egg mode, with a Smash-Bros-esque unit mashup... anybody up for a round of free-for-all CA chicken eggs as a proof-of-concept?
we'd need to adjust the difficulty of the chickens a bit, but I think it would be a good approximation. we could apply some unit restrictions, and play on a small map. :D

Narble narble. Anyone feeling any of these, mainly TFC? Drop some adjectives about how you want the game to feel, and maybe I can be a little more focused.

Sweet, those all look good, possibly a bit corporate however.
I hadn't thought of the logo yet, ideally for loadscreens each team would have a load screen with info or an advert for their parent mod, the spring skirmish logo in the corner.
The logo I suppose could be a cartoony smoke cloud with various limbs sticking out, or a crossed pair of burning flags or some springs fighting (so I suppose something actiony, but this is not essential!).
I have a 90% finished team now

just applying polishing then going to add 1 or 2 more teams and polish some more before releasing the alpha which will likely turn out looking unpolished and unbalanced but it'll be a good base I feel

glad to hear people are interested in contributing also!

that sounds like an idea right there
a corporate tournament, whereby different industries, colonies, species etc enter in the style of the Olympics to win themselves renown. There are strict rules to the tournament, a limit on unit types, buildings etc used by each faction and limits on unit combat abilities that paper over the fluff and lets the different factions enter combat

Mm that will really paper over fluff for The Cursed vs Lolimod vs KP vs Spherebots vs Nazis.
Uh.
Yeah maybe just dont bother trying to make sense of it.

Everything is easier without dialog. Do it like they did it in Subspace for Melee.

Bah, NO! Never try to make a story for a crossover, it just doesn't work.

Awesome. Good pick of units.
That image brings up a big balance question, though - are you allowing any special damages, or "only target" weapons? Aircraft raise questions about AA.

Special damages should be avoided if possible, the brawlers in this picture are pretty much all terrain hovercraft and should fly close enough to the ground to be hit (not too accurately) by all ground units.
The rough idea is the team can win conventionally or escort in the slow penetrator which deals massive single target damage.

I've made a command tower from the annihilator, a quick hack job, can be found here, if you want something to replace the flag with.
Model:
http://trac.caspring.org/browser/trunk/ ... mtower.s3o
Cob:
http://trac.caspring.org/browser/trunk/ ... mtower.cob
Bos:
http://trac.caspring.org/browser/trunk/ ... mtower.bos
unitdef (for CA):
http://trac.caspring.org/browser/trunk/ ... mtower.lua
Doesnt have a buildpic generated since its new, but who cares, it wont be built, right?
If you want something more 'spherebotty' (smooth white panels) you might consider the mex, maybe even Crems fusion. Or stick with the flag if thats an important design element.
If you want to use WiE's origional spherebot texture it can be found
here and
here. It looks better up close but has distance visibility problems (and it wont match the pene or the brawler as well, not that they match terribly well ATM anyway, they probably match the lugar better).
May also be worth noting if you want to use the banshee instead of brawler and samson instead of penetrator that would be using models created by myself entirely (- the comm tower if that goes in, obv, though if you made it the arm mex, thats mine too). Though im not saying you're under any obligation to do that, the current unit set looks good and i always love seeing spherebot used regardless of context.
P.S i promise ill fix up the rockos weapon one day, its got distorted textures on it ATM.

Having samson in there would remove the artillery role from the faction.

I merely mean the model, not the unit. Using the exact unit stats in a different mod would be retarded. s44 vs CA, who will win? Well uh, whoever uses the bigger numbers. Samson already uses a laser and everything, but it would need to be scaled up appropriately. Only problem is the angle of fire wouldnt be the same.
