First of all, you managed to understand what are mods and maps, and actually have the game running, like, WOW, have a cookie for that.

Now, my specs are roughly comparable to yours, (Radeon 9600 also), and you can have some good games with this system. However, this is not enough to enjoy Spring in its fullest. Some points: in springsettings expert mode read the bullets and take everything to minimum. No need to touch sliders with decals and icondistance on the second page though. Make sure you turn off antialiasing (both lines and points) and make sure your z-buffer is 16 bit and not 24.

You have to understand what widgets are and find which ones slow the system down for you. Especially, in BA, turn off LolUI immediately.

Even with all my knowledge i still can't play CA on my system. Also, games on bigger maps (Dworld, Neurope, most big FFA maps) are off-limits. In BA games, if they reach fighter-spam stage and there are 200 aircraft ingame - i also have to quit.

I think the issue that was taxing my computer the most was the antialiasing. I had lines but not points turned off, once I turned off both of them CA becomes playable, at least until mid game . Then some really pesky lag starts to kick in.
