surely that would be too easy :p

so reclaim time 3000 reclaimed by 100 workertime = 30 second reclaim?
or is there some crazy formula as per most spring functions?

no idea.
but search forum for reclaimtime, it exists.
defaulttime seems to be metal+energy.

what is a good amount of metal for a 1v1 map?
metal per spot?

Really depends on how many spots you want to run with and which game or mod you wish for this to be played with. Since *A is categorically a jumble and doesn't scale any better with any particular metal amount per spot, the non-*A games you intend to support would be my first concern. Beherith would probably know the best amount for IW, Spiked/Beherith the best for '44, Forb the best for Evo and, of course, Gundam/KP/War Evo don't need a metal map. It has been a long time and I don't remember enough to give you the answers myself.

Well I dunno how you would do it in SME, and btw evo resourcing is formatted towards TA metal spots (so if you do it for TA, then it will be perfect in evo), but what I do is in the smd set maxmetal to 1, then use a 6x6 round red 255 spot. It comes out to 2.0 metal income ingame.

Good progress!
Mind posting the final heightmap? I would like to take a look at it.
Also, what forb said about metal is spot on. 6*6 pencil and you get 2.0m :)

Ill send ya a sample of how i make them:

A custom shaped brush with random angle jitter added, and used in patter stamp mode, then I use blending options.

how does one place geothermals and grass using springmapedit ?
anyone got any rocks?

You can rip rocks from maps:
Un7zip the map in a dir, and copy over all the stuff except/maps to springmapedit.

Dunno about geos and grass tho, check the SME thread.

I dont think so:

[geovent]
{
world=allworld;
description=Geovent;
category=none;
object=Buds.s3o;
footprintx=1;
footprintz=1;
height=8;
blocking=0;
upright=0;
hitdensity=0;
energy=50;
metal=0;
damage=50;
flammable=0;
reclaimable=1;
autoreclaimable=1;
featurereclamate=smudge01;
seqnamereclamate=tree1reclamate;
}

it also places no geothermal texture...
anyone know the answer to this one?
