i like it, licho, except that i neither understand riot tank, but something strange.

as its all robots, what about using a speech synthesyzer?
the good thing there would be the option for:
CA female version!
units now respond with ugly, not understandable but FEMALE voice!

Well if you cant understand it, then its pointless. I have never been to english speaking coutnry, and chances are, you will never understand me :)

You can record your voice and then use audacity or similar software to apply effects to it. It can do a lot and im sure it can make robot voice out of normal one.

No offense licho, we need proper voice actors with proper audio equipment.

This sort of low quality stuff makes us look amatuerish and its precisely what im afraid of with voices.

I know. But someone with good accent and better intonation/acting can make decent sounding voices i think.

It can be modified using sound editing software.

I think its probably better to work on replacing noises. Surely we can get/make a bunch of PD/open vrr's, bangs, pops, blips and whizzes (and not sound like a bunch of 13 year olds who think they are badasses when they speak in a deep voice into their built-in PC mic).

I don't think one initiative is superior to the other. Both should be replaced, but Voices will take much longer to do correctly.

I think it would be better to assign each unit a small "chime" as opposed to a voice.

Voices get annoying, especially when the voice actors are not professional, and even then.

Voices are also just another thing that should be localized.

Having a chime would allow complex sound effect combinations, for example, a sound effect could be assigned to "under attack" and "construction vehicle", these two sound effects would be played when a conveh is under attack.

Is that idea epic? yes.

indeed a nice idea.
but it'd have to be very different chimes, since there's quite alot of units.
and, should the unit chime go first, or what's happening?

Voices I can do but I don't have a decent microphone. I can do some guitar work if you want a few riffs for the loading or something though.

I do sampling and general hip-hop based music.

I have done tracks for my friends, but, nothing that will get you out of the highschool mixtape wannabe rapper kids.

A good song me and my friend worked on together with Ableton and of course Battery 3 drum machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FGi8nr1 ... re=related

i think what we need here is sefidel he sounds like 'http://licho.eu/riot.wav' normally so you wouldnt have to edit it. He could make some awesome voices!

@CCblackmilk, Scikar: While we probably don't need ingame music and aren't yet able to add loading riffs (due to engine limitations), some music for a trailer video would certainly be welcome. :-)

@noruas: DO THIS NOW:
Go buy the game Battleforge.
In the game, purchase the unit known as 'Razorleaf.'
Click on it repeatedly to hear the unit replies it emits.
lol.
Produce similar unit voices for all CA units.
Win.
Give all profit to MidKnight.

@chaosmonkey: Tell us where we can find this "sefidel" person. Also, troll failed, 0/10 on the Gota Scale. :P
