It's obvious I would lose, never played an XTA game before and I'm not blaming it on anyone. Dave knows his stuff.
It has depth, but it does take a while to access it.
Have you ever had your minefield cleared by less than its cost in wezels? Impossible in XTA.
Scouts have very good dps for cost, but poor hp for cost, they fall prey to missile units easily, and their extremely short range exacerbates their failure vs flash/gator, let alone stumpy/raider.
AA targetting ground is not an inherent flaw, I would argue it is more intuitive, and that it follows the precedent set by OTA.
Next tourney we could maybe play the mods in reverse chronological order? Or go with best of 3 from chosen mods+ KP.
Thanks for playing anyway :)

I must admit this tourney was a pretty cool idea. Now you can go back to those threads with the mod wars where people say "well your clan is only good at that mod but our clan would pwn you at this mod" and present a tourney to end all tourneys where you have to win at each and every mod to reach the top.

A mixed mod tournament gives everybody new experience of mods if they haven't played them before. I think Dave was the only guy in this tourney that had experience in all the mods played.

I had experience....... i just got rolled in the first round..... in my home mod..... on the map i chose......
Another tourney next weekend guys?
Suggestions on the format, choice of mods/maps etc are, of course, more than welcome :)

Sure, I vote XTA, BA and CA again but in a different order. Forget SA completely, BasiC is the only one who wanted SA and it doesn't give much variation from BA.

Ok but shhhhhhhh, you'll make BasiC think SA is going somewhere. We can't let that happen.

Perhaps some sort of round robin setup would be better than a mod-tiered tree?

Wouldn't that require some sort of organisational skills?

That sounds better, what do you recommend?

Well a full everyone-plays-everyone-at-every-mod setup would be the 'best' solution with reference to mod preference, but that would obviously be huge and unwieldy and infeasible...perhaps each player has a game with every other player and each pair decides on a mod and map for their own game? Or if more structure is desired, each player chooses one mod of their choice and plays games in a tree structure, playing a game of each mod at each node in the tree (where ties simply advance both players)?

well played basic!
and thanks a lot for organizing, it's the first time i've participated in a large-ish tourney of spring and it was very enjoyable... i had never even tried XTA, and now i like it a lot.
and of course, since its me, i have suggestions ^^
some people complained a bit about having a multi-mod tournament, and i can understand where they are coming from; obviously everyone has mods and games that they enjoy playing more than others, and there will be mismatches of experience in each game... but at the same time, it's a blast to play... the round robin idea would ensure that everyone is on a somewhat even footing being that we all have our strengths and weaknesses...
perhaps something like the group stages of the world cup, you'd have to play 3 or 4 games against different people to accumilate points in a group to qualify for a final elimination tournament... (or more games depending on the setup)
this would also work nicely if we had a strange number of players, it opens the door to things like a 15 or 20 man tournament; being able to subdivide the players into pre-knockout groups allows more flexibility as far as tournament sizes go, not to mention the fact that you'd be able to play "your" mod mixed in there, without being knocked out before having the opportunity.
having multimod tournaments is also a great way to promote the play of different mods... it would be cool to mix in some of the fun mods that have less play time (have some evo, some gundam, some 1944 etc mixed in there) or even coincide the release of a new mod with a tournament... would possibly get people more hyped up about new content and get more people trying new stuff... (can has SWIW finals? ^^)
multimod tourney next sunday +1, if we want to try something crazy and complicated, i will maintain a scoreboard for it.

Got to agree with this. Multi Mod tournaments are a good thing.
I didn't know much about any Mod other than BA.
I thought CA was ok, now I think it's awesome.
I thought SA was fairly similar to BA, I still think it's fairly similar to BA.
I thought XTA wasn't that good, now I think it's awful.
Gives players a lot of experience of other mods.
