That tends to be my opinion too, it looks good when the item in the banner is sticking something out into the menu bar, but it doesn't look good when the item is being cut off half way through the menu bar. That being said, If the banner otherwise is of sufficient quality, I'm usually still going to put it up on the site.
The IW quadruped is perfect the way it is.
