Only bad drivers can cause bluescreens. Since neither the player, splitter or video codec is a driver they are harmless. What you are seeing is that some software is triggering a bug in a driver - most likely your graphics card driver.

When I use VLC's x264 codec for encoding I recieve error messages and occasionally a BSOD
