@ Wisse : It'll be hard to make a selection of players for each country. I even don't know how the player selection is done in other games ( I know there is a huge nation cup in quake3) but I think it be better that you organise simple competition. Team, 1v1, 2v2 etc... You can get something interesting more quickly

We could have like a mock "pro-circuit" where there was a player draft and we made teams... not sure who would agree to it but it would be cool.

I'm not very happy about response this thread got.

The point of this cup was to break from normal clan competition. I don't think ppl are willing to organize fair qualifications for each country tho.

In other game where I followed whole nations cup from the beginning players selected captain and than he selected other players that would be allowed to play. If there were several players interested to take one spot he proposed qualifications for national team which provided with fair and best selection.
Since there's very weak or no teamplay here in Spring I don't see any reason in trying to stack players from same clan to represent certain country.
So I would propose rules like only 2 players from same clan are allowed to play, but I can already see smart asses changing clan just for the sake of this cup.

Initial team selection and sign ups can't be supervised by me or anyone else and would be completely dependent on players fairness (which is a rear virtue here in Spring). I want whole community to be aware of this cup not only 3 guys from each country, just to make it more interesting and fun. Primary goal is not to get best country atm but to spread some competitive spirit among public DSD-playing part of community in order to get things moving and giving players reason to function in clans for the sake of competitive playing.

And what better way is there to spread competitive spirit than waking up patriots in players. Wanting to actually follow their representing team. This might not be so obvious for smaller countries but big ones with "huge" player base could pull off something like that.

I know most of you will find this shit stupid, but I've been part of sucha strong community in my previous game that I just can't get over it (wasn't RPG). This feeling is gone in spring. There's no real point in wearing clan tags in Spring atm other than showing that ur part of something bigger I rarely had any other benefit from it. There are no large clan games and such at all.

Think about how much effort everyone is willing to put into making this work. This is not my cup. It's everyone's cup. I can make brackets and be admin if there's no other way but everything else should be manged by nation's captain and players.
You have to know that the least I want from you is to rename for few weeks according to some rule we'll come up with and possibly start country channel in lobby where you would provide others with news and updates.

Well, people formed clans for a reason. They chose to be a part of that clan.

I did not choose to be born in my particular country of residence.

However I think this idea is full of lulz, because I will be able to speak my native language in battle with my countrymen.
