Also very useful would be an ability to turn the com's facing like you can with buildings since some mods use com buildings.

Well, guess StartPosSelector will have to be hacked to give it Lua abilities, I see no other options that meet the requirements.

what about the GUI? the current built-in needs at least the option to be hidden and a way to send Ready from Lua needs to be added (that's what a quick skim through StartPosSelecter.cpp - typo btw? - leads me to believe.)
